Brilliant job Rob! Interiors on most white XJS's were black, tan or ivory, I've never see a red interior on a white one. Those Superfast wheels definitely look better than the originals. I've already subscribed to Jason's channel and he definitely does great work, will be going over to take a look at his Volvo build shortly.

Jaguar actually passed on giving the Saint TV show a car because they were selling so well. Roger Moore had a 1962 Volvo P1800. This car would be the Return of the Saint car from the late 1970s. Never saw that show! Rob did wonders to improve this Corgi, me like it!

The car from the show was actually bought/owned by Roger Moore, it was featured on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage in about 2014.

Very nice Jaguar ! It reminds me of my time in the dealership...sitting in a new XJS, the new leather smell.... good times. Hey Rob, I wanted to invite you to a build off. At this moment there are 10 of us. We are going to do "shop trucks". It really doesn't even need to be a truck, if matchbox garage picks up parts in a station wagon or delivery van you can use it. Stock or modified doesn't matter. The due date for this will be September 1st. If you're intrested let me know or if you have questions please ask me.

Can't go wrong with the Humbrol gloss paints. They leave a very deep shine :) If there is one fault in them, it's that there are not enough gloss colors in the Humbrol range.
@andrewphippsphillips14555 жыл бұрын
I like the Humbrols, but gloss white has always been like treacle at times and the matt ends up like liquid chalk.

Oh, 'The Return Of The Saint', from the late 1970's. A good, fun show, starring Ian Ogilvy. Had a great theme tune, too. The Jaguar XJS was a good substitute for the original 1960's show's Volvo P1800.

Superb restoration, that was an amazing transformation. One part confused me though. At the start you said it had 4 rivets that needed to be drilled out, after which you proceeded to unscrew 4 screws that where were the rivets should have been. Did I miss something, I'm new to this.

Goodwork on the Corgi Jaguar! I'm guessing that Corgi was being cheap back then when they used cheap plastic for the bases instead of metal but over the years discast companies would improve on the plastic bases to keep them from breaking.

The XJS was from 'Return of the Saint', a later reincarnation of the programme, starring Ian Ogilvy. Not a bad replacement as far as appearances went, but no Roger, that's for sure. Both series had their fans, to be honest. Great that you painted the interior. I never liked red interiors on my model cars. It made them look cheap, in my opinion. Roger Moore had a Volvo P1800. There's a Corgi model of that as well.

The reason they used the XJS in Return of the Saint was because they didn't let the production company use a Jag in the original Saint tv programme (hence why he used a Volvo P1800), so they decided they weren't going to make the same mistake twice
