It is actually glued to a couple of little tiny tabs with clear epoxy. It not wedged in there tho I find it usually ends up chipping the paint.

This came out great! I love the fact that you replaced the missing rear window. I have a few Corgi cars leftover from my youth including a model similar to this, however' that one has an opening hood with engine details and a more detailed interior. It might be either a 1:24 or 1:32 scale model. It's in decent shape, however the rear window on mine has since cracked :( Great work on these restorations!
@TheSteamLocomotive5 жыл бұрын
Corgi Jrs are cheaply made; but, they are well detailed and still better than modern hot wheels and modern matchbox toys. You do great work Danny.

Top job Danny, looks great in the period correct colour scheme! Corgi went downhill fast after the mid 70's and pretty much all the cars from about 75 on are paper thin castings with equally thin plastic bases unfortunately, even though they have a fairly good amount of detail. I really like the wheels you put on, probably 20 years ago now I saw a Rover SD1 featured in Street Machine magazine here in Aus with the same wheels, the car had a 5 L Holden V8 and T5 gearbox swapped into it.

Now that Suck that Corgi doesn't have Wiki of their own they should really get one if they want to people to look up their well detailed models of Corgi Toy Vehicles. Hot Wheels & Matchbox are doing it and they have some good info of the makes and Models of the Toy Vehicles they make.

What did you use for the back window I usually cut a piece out of a blister pack
@DannysDiecastDisasters5 жыл бұрын
Clear styrene sheet. You might notice its not fitted too tightly because it tends to scratch the paint if you try to wedge it in there.
@rodney18185 жыл бұрын
I use blister pack cuz a it's free B cuz you can cut it a little bit bigger than you need it and usually have to try three or four times so it's not real efficient but I hit it with the heat gun until it you know rolls itself into place you got to find that sweet spot

I suspect this model was made around the same time as the car itself. This particular Rover, known as the SD1 (short for Specialist Division 1, it was a big change from Rover's previous cars, such as the P4, P5 and P6) was available with a number of different engines, ranging from a 2 litre I4, three different I6s and the 3500, which was the (in)famous 3.5 litre aluminium block V8 that Rover obtained from Buick in the 60s. However, around the time this car was being produced, alongside the original Range Rover for example, Rover had all sorts of problems, from management down to labour strikes. Quality suffered. If you had a 'good one' or could afford to have issues addressed the 3500, particularly the later EFi models pushing 190hp, was a car that would take on the likes of BMW and Mercedes. It was very popular with British Police. However, they are famous for being badly made. The right car made by the wrong company.

Can something be missing if it was never there to begin with. An awful lot of the corgis with opening hatches didn't get a window great to see your replacement. If you have the casting matchbox did a lovely version with a sunroof to see them side by side

Well i looked at a lot of photos, sopme had a rear window with lines on it. It definitely has little tabs for a window. I'm guess now that maybe the earlier ones had them and later one they made cheaper and ditched it.

Nice choice on the wheels. Love the interior, wheel and base detailing. However, find the body paint falls below your skill level, which is quite advanced. Did you hand paint the body instead of airbrushing it? Doesn't quite look as polished as your usual handiwork. Perhaps adding wax and polishing it would improve things; don't know, just a suggestion. (And no, did not give you a thumbs down. Have too much respect for your skill set to do that.)
