Corian Solid Surface Countertop Ramp Sink video shows the complete fabrication process to build a Corian solid surface ramp sink. From the fabrication to the mounting and sanding followed by the drain assembly, you will be able to get a great idea of how to make your own ramp sink.
I use a CNC to cut the initial set of parts for the sink. After the parts are cut, they are sanded and prepared for assembly. Careful preparations are required to keep the adhesive off the finished parts.
After assembly, the slot drain is assembled and mechanically fastened to the underside of the ramp sink.

First off absolutely beautiful work on the sinks they look fantastic. I had a question regarding the joints and the integrity of them in high temperatures (kitchen sink type abuse, boiling or near boiling temperatures etc). We have had the darnest luck with any of the fabrication of these where the joint (the weakest point) is continually failing. Any comment or insight into this would be fanastic.
@AndyGraves
@AndyGraves 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you. This is a vanity sink so I doubt it get much boiling water so we have not had an issue. Are you doing kitchen sinks where they fail?
@TrevorMack
@TrevorMack 2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyGraves yeah we have had corner joints fail several times recently on kitchen sinks. Measured bit high on the direct hot water measuring 160-165 at the tap. Latest experiment was to use a thicker material, 3/4", to have a larger bond surface though alias still the corner joint failed.
@AndyGraves
@AndyGraves 2 жыл бұрын
I actually don't think it's a good idea to make kitchen sinks because of that reason. There are plenty of great sink options. Then, who covers the warranty for a custom sink? I wish there was a better solution. You could try using fiberglass on the back side of all the joints like the Karran solid surface sinks. Fiberglass is extremely strong.
@TrevorMack
@TrevorMack 2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyGraves yeah I'm think that is the problem. Don't think fiberglass will work as nice, if completely undermount it might work 🤔, for any apron sink though the front is always going to be weakest point.

Great stuff Andy! We're thinking about getting one of these installed in our powder room and are curious about a few things: 1. How does the material as compared to conventional porcelain? 2. Is it true that darker colors will lose their luster relatively quickly and we'd be better off with lighter tones? 3. I understand the material can be scratched with scotchbrite etc, will we be cleaning this with a wash cloth and mild detergent? I'd ask you to make it for me but I live half way across the world. :) thanks!
@AndyGraves
@AndyGraves 2 жыл бұрын
1. This material is softer than Porcelain but you wouldn't be able to make this countertop with porcelain material. 2. Darker materials will show more scratches and water spots but will not loose their luster. 3. Yes, soap and water or glass cleaner is really all you need to keep the material clean.
@mau5fan4lyfe
@mau5fan4lyfe 2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyGraves thanks! I just noticed a typo in the first one. I meant to ask, how does the solid surface material wear as compared to porcelain? I've heard about decades old countertops going strong but I'm not sure how the sinks hold up. I'll be sure to opt for the lighter hues in this case, the darker ones are my favourite but I'd rather opt for the low upkeep. This was very helpful, thanks!
