Cormega always drops jewels in his music and interviews. I feel The Realness II is a timeless album. Great interview overall and I'm glad Cormega addressed the 21 Savage comment saying Nas is irrelevant which we all know he is relevant.

I love that this show is sharing the business behind the music. This is much needed and will change the future of the industry by spreading the knowledge to the next generation of artists.

Cormega is spitting true facts. Let's check some boxes as we move along. ✅📦 The music business is set up to go against your interest as a human being. This is why lawyers and contracts are involved for those who, "get out of line." They immediately get put back in their places with certain contractual stipulations 📝. ✅📦 The advances are exactly what they are, advances. Similar to that of student loans, personal loans, business loans, etc. What is loaned to you shall be paid back with sweat equity. ✅📦 The "selling ones soul to the devil" aspect of music is you selling yourself (literally) to the big wigs so-to-speak to be put on. When you sell yourself and sign that contract, your soul is literally theirs. Music comes from the soul, and the devils (Hollywood) want it. ✅📦 When they give you an advance, you have to pay it back through your royalties. This is why many artist love doing shows because they get paid upfront on the backend. However, they still have to report the songs performed to the label which tracks all of that data anyway. Then after you die, and you still haven't fulfilled your contractual obligations to your label? Better believe they will still make money from you. Also, they take out life insurance on all of their artists. That's another bag for them. ✅📦 Publishing: it is the way they make money from you beyond the grave (take DMX for instance). All of whom had their hands in DMX's projects (all of the Ruff Ryders, Swizz Beats, producers,) etc., all get royalty checks which multiplied after X's death (and they will keep getting it until the end of time - including Diddy with Biggie's music). ✅📦 Own your own masters before the masters own you: because if you do not own your masters, you will one day hear your song in full, or remixed on some one else's instrumental or EDM track on a TV commercial or sports game (football, basketball, hockey, whatever). And guess what? You won't get paid for that, because the record company that sold your music license for those commercials are getting the money. Which, in effect, goes toward the advance that they gave you anyway, so either way you won't see a dime. I'm done, own your own shxt, stay frosty.

Please watch Nas reactions on KZbin. It’s a lot of young kids , different videos they’re watching and giving great reactions to Nas and his music. They love what his music is about and feels he is the GOAT at story telling in his music. What I noticed I hear a lot of them say is that they were born in the wrong era, they wish the rappers out now would make music like the music that was made in our time! I get such a kick out of watching their reactions because I love the fact that they are realizing the best rappers and MCs was during our time!!!! They also do reactions on other rappers like Eminen, they love him and others. They also are now reacting to our R&B music from back them and some reactions are to songs from the 70’s. They recognize that hiphop back then was based on what was really happening in the streets, in the hood and understand why it was so successful because people could actually relate. They see they creativeness. They seem to really appreciate that! I believe eventually, the future of music will take a turn towards the music we had back then, the style of rap and R&B might head back in that direction!!! Hopeful, just saying! And I love that Nas and Cormega fixed their relationship 😇😇😇 48:52
