I love the sound of the gleaners.

In the Panhandle our double crop beans are not that tall when planted the first of July. We planted into wheat or barley stubble. You might have to use Select max or roundup to control corn. I use a 10" drill with 19" turbo coulters. The 90 bu wheat stubble is thick but if it is left standing not shredded the beans have no trouble and the shade keeps the soil moist. I bet the corn will do the same and go through the combine.
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Since it's continuous corn for 10 years, I'm mostly looking at grass control. Planning selectmax and maybe basagran on the outside field edges.
@robertreznik93307 жыл бұрын
Get generic select max as it is half the cost for clethodim. Never had much luck with basagran.

I read your reply stating 5mph. sure did look like a lot faster. video will do that. nice running combine, smooth sounding...

Great video. How many acres do you plant with that 4 row planter?
@Jns27j7 жыл бұрын
By the way those gleaners are pretty nice. I bought an 8780 and had no interest in a gleaner. Watched a promotional video and I'm thinking the next one will be a gleaner. Super clean samples.

The guy we have harvest every year swears by them. I guess if you have a good dealer nearby, go for it.

Hi TwoHappyChildrenFarm, Thanks for sharing. I have two questions. Did you actually plant that with the 4 row planter and have him combine with 8 row? and is your Air Conditioner having problems in the 4440? About the AC, I ask cause its hitting 95 to 97 every day in Houston and I could not live without it. Thanks, Bill
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm7 жыл бұрын
Yes, 4 row planter, 8 row harvest. Almost unnoticable. Yes the AC was not working in the 4440 and I didn't get time to get into town before planting. It was baking.

Corn and soybeans in the same year? I think I need to move to Texas!
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm7 жыл бұрын
Maybe. It's still way to hot down here and you grow stuff all year.
@robertreznik93307 жыл бұрын
I think there are 10,000 people moving to Texas each week. Texas has freedom...they can vote for Trump if they like!

And it looks like our state govt. is actually working on stuff and getting it past.

How fast are you running that combine through that corn? Looks pretty fast.
@stevenpayne37077 жыл бұрын
Oops Oops once the cab video started I heard one of them say that the yield monitor indicated 160 bushels per acre.

Super jelouse. Met with randy dowdy in feb. he was headed back to Georgia to plant corn. I headed back to Pennsylvania for 40" of more snow 1 1/2 more winter.

@zachslate80847 жыл бұрын
how fast was the combine going cause it looks like it was flying across the field
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm7 жыл бұрын
About 5mph. He didn't want to push it too hard, first field of the year, and later one of the trucks broke for the day.
@robertreznik93307 жыл бұрын
5 mph out here is about as fast as i can take a badger hole. With auto steer they sneak up, especially at night. They seem to add up in no till.

@TwoHappyChildrenFarm7 жыл бұрын
We contracted some back in May around $3.80 and sold the rest a bit lower at harvest.

@TwoHappyChildrenFarm7 жыл бұрын
14.4% average. Really tight across most of the field, only one load above 15%. We were at 3450 gdus if that helps

good afternoon I was wondering if you would have planted a little higher population your yield would have been a little bit better this year due to the moisture you had. and what population are you planning the soybeans in at. did you ever chop your stocks before. I really enjoyed the whole corn series hope you have a great evening talk to you later
@TwoHappyChildrenFarm7 жыл бұрын
My best yield on the population splits was at 27K/acre, at 175. At 32k and 36k it was 170. I think somewhere 27 - 32k is good for the better soils here. Beans target was 140 in 30 inch rows. Still a learning curve on planter settings so I think some acres were 155, some where 125. I didn't chop the stalks, ran over the old rows and planted directly in the middles (15 inch from old rows). It was more compacted there but the stalks were too fresh to try and plant 7 inch from row. Never seen a double crop soybean after corn, so here goes. Thanks for watching all season.
@elmcustomharvesting10727 жыл бұрын
TwoHappyChildrenFarm I wonder if they're going to be a little hard to combine with the stocks not chopped it seems like you're going to bring a lot of material into the header. just a thought I think you'll do fine if you have the moisture. hope you have a great evening talk to you later
@tedkahler97387 жыл бұрын
stalks seem to help feed them better. but could be different where he is at

Thanks Ted. We'll keep an eye on this. I did throw in some N so by harvest they should be a bit more crunchy.
