What a buzz !! Sent me back to the 70’s here in NZ where I helped my dad crib maize ( corn to you northern boys ) We had a 706 in a IH 234 with a husking bed on the back . Then in the summer we set it up for the sweetcorn harvest for the local cannery - Watties Long hours but fun team of 3 or more machines.

The 4430 was so cool to see picking corn. That’s neat to have farmed with two HFWA tractors. Back then a powered axle was a rare option today it’s rare to see a big 2wd.

I loved picking corn as a teanager. We used our MF 1135 pulling a New Idea 330 (3 row 30") corn picker. We used our 5 325bu gravity wagons and borrowed our neighbors 5 wagons. (He used ours when he was picking & combining). We put all our corn through a Farmhad grinder/blower into a silo as high moisture corn. Now days, we do earlage using a 12 x 30" corn head on our JD 9700 SP Harvester.

Great video Jason, interesting to see the 4430 HFWA, The HFWA tractors were not popular at all in Northern Ireland as it was said it did not offer any hold back when going down steep hills, I've no idea if this was correct but it did put everyone off. Lovely to see the D2 as well - bet Squatch was watching!

at 8:30..........the corn wasn't planted nearly that thick when the combine was built. Surprised it is handling that great stand of corn that well.

Where is the horse drawing equipment.
@bigtractorpower2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately I was not able to film the horse drawn equipment. I really really wanted to to because it shows how far farming has come. The horses ran from. 9 am to 10 am while the temperatures were cool. This was the same time the big tractors were plowing. I kept hoping to catch the horses but there was always a tractor or combine that drew my attention away. For example the 7701 and the steel track combines only made one pass at the show and parked. If I was filming the horses I would have missed those. Hopefully the next show in 2024 I’ll be able to catch the horse drawn equipment.
