Love the General, stands tall and proud. The unit still looks brand new. Built tough back in the day. Good to see the farmer keeps his equipment in pristine condition. The person driving it is doing an excellent job. Sounds like a big Cummins under the hood.

It’s the coolest truck I get to see in the field each year. I hope to do a ride along video in the General some time.

I agree. Sounds great with the straight pipes, and the guy's a great operator...unlike too many drivers you hear crashing through the gears these days.

I saw a GMC General like this. Same paint except it had orange Dayton rims and was pulling about a 70s or 80s Fuehauf dump trailer.
@bigtractorpower6 жыл бұрын
Awesome truck. I bet the orange rims stand out.
@Steve.Vaught6 жыл бұрын
bigtractorpower, yes the rims were the same color as the orange on the truck. But yeah the truck was so original looking it was like going back in time. It was also a farm truck.

it just occured to me how huge the engine air filters would need to be to keep from clogging before you even got the field cut.considering your basically creating your own dust storm.

Greetings from the Ohio Porters. Yeah, I’m back in 2021. It’s almost summer. I remember seeing these Generals at the dealership back in Huntington, WV at Steiner’s. Such sweet looking trucks. 🥰 I really like to look these rigs over when I see them. Most had Detroit engines, but I’ve seen a few with Cummins. I missed out on buying one years ago...no engine or drivetrain, but I had a Cat engine that would’ve fit right in there. My loss. What engine does this rig have in it? Nice rig. 🥰

in my opinion the 5 star general had more class and a much better look to it than any peterbilt that has ever been made all you see on youtube is somebody rebuilding a peterbilt like it the only truck ever made iam sick of peterbilt they are not that impressive to me the general was more impressive and could stand more abuse than them over rated peterbilt could

Why do all American Lorry trailers only have two axles
@canvids18 жыл бұрын
You haven't seen many American trailers if you are saying they only have two axles!
@FMurphy8 жыл бұрын
canvids1 have never seen a tri axle grain trailer in America
@trevorfout47598 жыл бұрын
+Fergal Murphy depends on what part of the country diff states have different weight regs and how many axles u can legally have
@BornRandy628 жыл бұрын
the trucks are weight restricted to 80 thousand pounds gross weight. That is distributed 12 k on the steer axle, 34k on the drive axles (2 axles) then either 34k or 40k on the trailer depending on if it is closed up (34k) or spread (40k). It allows for the weight to be spread out over distance to help preserve the integrity of bridges. A air operated tag axle can be added to the tractor and the trailors if weight restrictions are suspended for agriculture during harvest season. Some states (Michigan) operate land trains with multiple axes and double trailers and associated higher weight limits. Those trailors arent generally used on soft ground in a grain field off road
@howdoyoulikethat52537 жыл бұрын
Fergal Murphy : As an AMERICAN, I very often asked myself that very question. A triple axle trailer in "my" opinion is far more STABLE on the road ESPECIALLY AT HIGHWAY SPEED ! As it is right now, when riding along the U.S. highways, I ask my buddy to stay BACK or PULL AHEAD, of these behemoths. If something goes wrong and the driver has to cross on to our lane........AIN'T NO WAY IN HELL, WE IS A GOIN' TO SURVIVE, the FLATNIN' 😱OUT ! Can you believe that here are some companies that STILL use SINGLE AXLE HEAVY LONG trailers in the U.S. ? ( "Old Dominion" ). Very, Very, POOR trailer stability in my opinion. Short trailers maybe, but HEAVY LONG trailers ....."NO" !!!!!! 😨 Drive Safely ALL ! 😊😋😉
