He jumps those cross country fences like they are nothing, it's only that we see how big they are when you walk the course, otherwise we would have no idea! He is just a lovely natural jumper, honestly that course with all the combinations wasnt an easy one, but you two made it look effortless, definitely got your mojo back!!

My husband has been doing multiple triathlons each year (some Ironman distance ones included in there) for the last 35 years, and he looks just like Zebedee: no fat anywhere, some bony bits, and absolutely in perfect form for doing more triathlons. He’s pared down for endurance work. Like Zeb, over that many years he has honed his body to be perfect for his sport. He qualified for the 2023 world half Iron Man championships in Finland. His goal is to complete the course. I love the XC course at Cornbury. A real test with hills, and turns, yet room for galloping, too. You did a smashing ride. Zeb is the best.

Horse trucks/lorries here in Australia cost as much as a unit, so most of us sleep in our floats (trailers) or cars at events. Some people even leave the grounds to go stay at a hotel - I could never do that. I always slept by my horse's yard in a tent or in my car lol. I don't know why people would laugh at you. Horse trucks are an absolute luxury.

Where do you find all the awesome pink accessories? That lead rope is a gorgeous shade! And the whip! I just noticed that, I have NEVER seen a pink dressage whip, I MUST find one, that's awesome! I had to do black, I couldn't find pink within my budget, that is probably my problem, haha, I am poor! We share a colour preference, though, haha- grey/black and pink is literally all that's in my closet and grooming kit (well, the odd pops of purple when I couldn't find pink, the ghost of my 4th grade self certainly approves of the pink/purple, anyway, haha!) I spend Saturdays that I don't have Pony Club watching "Married at First Sight", lol! You have to do it marathon style, it's better that way!

I’m not a 3 day eventer (Im in the US and compete in the hunters and show jumpers), so I’m asking out of genuine curiosity: do all eventers ride the showjumping phase like this? Normally in regular show jumping, we move our hands forward up the horses neck and get up into a more forward two point position over the jumps. I realize that riding XC jumps the riders have to stay in a more upright and behind the motion, defensive position to stay balanced over uneven terrain, keep the horse going over huge solid obstacles, not lose balance and pitch forward when jumping down banks and into water, etc. But do they not change their jumping style for the show jumping phase? I was just watching Ashley’s showjumping round and noticing that she rides with a comparatively long rein, pulls backwards at the base of the jumps, and stands up over the jumps. It looks like she just slips her reins a little over the top of the jump instead of doing an actual crest or automatic release (so the horse can really stretch its neck and use its whole body to create the desired arc over the jump). I’m curious if this is how all eventers ride the show jumps (essentially the same as if they were jumping XC obstacles), or if this style is just particular to Ashley? Really not trying to pick apart her riding, I’ve never watched many 3 day event riders actually do the show jumping phase, just seen them do the XC portion. I’m genuinely curious if this is the normal way eventers ride show jumps? Btw, the XC is SO impressive! Those jumps are massive, and I certainly wouldn’t have the courage to jump such large immovable obstacles (I like my rails to fall if my horse hits them 😂), especially on such upward and downward changes in terrain. I know it also takes a huge amount of fitness for both horse and rider to complete those long XC courses…. I’m used to flat arenas where the entire course takes a max of 2 minutes to complete, and most of the jumps are off related strides. MUCH easier imo! I do have a mini schooling XC course at my farm, and I find it MUCH less scary to jump the obstacles going uphill than going downhill. Even jumping my lowest (maybe .85m) options going down a hill is nerve wracking for me. I can NOT imagine jumping off the side of a tall bank, especially down into water (where neither horse or rider can see the footing! 😳). I could never do all that you do, and make it look so effortless. So kudos to the brave horses and all you brave riders who can do the XC (though I still think you’re all a bit crazy…lol)

Just a minor suggestion…after the awesome Zeb has taken you around a tough XC clear, how about you jump off and walk him back, just so you can loosen off the girth and let him recover a bit more comfortably. It would be a really lovely way to say “thank you to him” after he’s worked so hard for you in both the SJ and XC?

Can someone please explain how the dressage scores work? Im really confused
@ashleyharrisoneventing2 жыл бұрын
You get scored out of 100 as normal but in Eventing you are looking for the lowest number so if you got 70% dressage your score in Eventing would be 30 - if you got 65% it would be 35 and then you add your SJ faults,XC faults and time penalties to get the overall score 👍
