As an Illinois fan…y’all are impatient AF!!! You obviously know our teams both have been dumpster fires for a decade, and ours much less success than NU prior to that. We’re in year 4 of having Bielema and the fruits are finally starting to grow. NU is going to be bowl eligible this year, that should have been the goal all along, a step in the right direction and you’re getting there. Just takes time and with the portal and NIL I’m sure Rhule will attack key positions to help get a better bowl next year. Baby steps

I’m sure he’ll evaluate the position coaches at the end of the year and make changes if he sees it benefits his vision moving forward. And NU has a ton of NIL money to improve key positions. I think the B1G will be a more attractive landing spot with top portal players and HS kids with the addition of Oregon and USC, it’s the SEC and us in that regard. Good luck the rest of the year and shock the world this Saturday!!

You beat us in 2020 when you only had 2 wins that season, you beat us in 2021, 2022 and 2024 and you were 7-1 in 2022 and you made a bowl game in 2022 and will this season for sure. You are now 6-1 and so I don't wanna hear anyone say we are impatient AF. We have been waiting for a bowl game since 2016, waiting for a winning season since 2016, and will still be waiting to beat a ranked team until who knows when. We have youth that have no idea we used to be good, let alone know we used to be great. Times have changed and Nebraska football needs to change.

Honestly, anyone who actually was expecting more than 7 wins max this season was lying to themselves from the start. Making a bowl game would be massive improvement. Everyone’s freaking out when Indiana and Illinois are currently top 3 in the Big 10. Rhule has been more than open and honest about a slow build so not sure why everyone’s shocked. The most disappointing thing is honestly how the defense played. With Tony White and all of the returning starters their performance was unacceptable.

Look best scenario is we come out of Ohio with a 7 or 14 point loss....but right now......hell man this could be the worst beating we have had to stomach since Kansas laid 76 on us.....I swore to God Almighty that night if anybody ever did that to a NEBRASKA FOOTBALL TEAM EVER AGAIN.....I WOULD GIVE UP WATCHING THEM PERIOD AND SPEND MY SATURDAYS GOING HUNTING OR FISHING.....ANYTHING EVEN DOING YARD WORK OR "HONEY DO" PROJECTS FOR THE WIFE......AND FRANKLY IM AFRAID I BETTER GET THE FISHING RODS READY, THE HUNTING GEAR LOADED OR HEAD OUT TO THE SHOP AND FIRE UP THE WEED EATER OR LEAF BLOWER CAUSE BUDDY IM AFRAID ITS FIXIN TO GET ...REAL DAMNED FUGLY IN A HURRY COME NOON SATURDAY....you realize if this happens and they hang a bunch of points on us and we get embarrassed on National TV again....it will be the worst back to back losses since Tom Osborne Retired....? Another great post - food for thought.............my concern is both complimentary and worrisome. Matt Rhule is a very good man and might be too loyal to do what is necessary - he might be too loyal to ( insert ANY coach's name here ) to do the makeover required to become the team that our players' skill possess. I am not calling for anyone's particular job............Dylan Raiola is a pocket passer so why aren't we passing more ? The WR room is stacked with tremendous potential and promise but they aren't either being given a chance to succeee which in turn doesn't give 15 to succeed. I'm thankful that I am not in his place............as far as mid-season changes I haven't seen a lot of turnarounds when this is done over the past many years. Another thought -- our best coach ( Tony White ) had a horrible day, too, so even though I do not have THE answer to our woes I still believe in Matt Rhule............I just hope he makes those hard decisions that we pay him for. G B R !!!

Satterfield needs to go. So…so…so tired of people defending him. Rhule basically said at his presser that they believe they’re doing things the right way so they’re not going to change anything. We’ve had the weekend to decompress. What happened? We had a bye week to prepare and heal and we got manhandled in every aspect of the game and it was never competitive. I can’t think they have better athletes in every position trying harder? Now we go out and do the same with Ohio State? What’s that do to the players heads? Then we have a completely different vibe and feeling around the team yet they need to go out and compete and find wins the rest of the way. That’s got to be a coaching challenge. We have to count on the fact that we do have some skilled players in key positions on offense and when our defense is on, it seems to be pretty good. We will find a way to be bowl eligible and maybe that pumps them up.

We can't make staff changes in the middle of the season I think we're past the point of no return on that front. If Sat can't turn things around on the offensive side of the ball in these next couple games, we know exactly what will happen with him at the end of the season. We had two weeks of prep for IU and did nothing with it from the way Saturdays performance looked on both sides of the ball. We may still be an 8-4 team, which may sound over-optimistic, but UCLA should be a guaranteed win even after b2b road losses at IU and OSU. Maybe we get lucky in Columbus and keep that one a closer game, even if it is a loss, it'd still feel good to look better this coming weekend against Ohio State. USC has just been throwing the past few games, they just can't hold out in the 2nd half, coming off another bye week should give us some advantage, but I think this is a game that could really go either way. Which leaves Wisconsin and Iowa. Optimistically 8-4, but likely we only hit 7-5 and get an okay bowl game against some Big XII or ACC opponent

Nevertheless, I'm going to let the rest of the season play out, and who knows, maybe there will be a small ounce of progress. For me, I just want Nebraska to get that sixth win to become bowl eligible because it is long overdue. It's clear that there are several issues that will definitely not be fixed this season, and all we can do is hope that they are addressed during the off-season. Hey Conner, first off, sorry for misspelling your name in the past with two Os. Respect! I don't think a mid-season coaching change is a positive move on a lot of levels. Are the players supposed to learn new schemes and new coaching personalities now? I do think changes are due at the end of the season, and certainly with special teams and maybe better offense ideas either from a new offense coach or new assistant coaches. And I still am counting on seven wins for the season. I believe this team will bounce back after the throttling they took from IU. GBR!

The offense is at the bottom in almost every category. There were calls last year to fire Satterfield. Rhule even spoke on it and called it, “ridiculous.” Well, here we are a year later, 7 games into the season and Nebraska’s offense is still horrible. WR coach is another one that’s not getting a lot of attention. The dude was inexperienced and unqualified, and the WR can’t block or run routes and get open. He should go right along with Foley mid season.

I agree on everything you’ve stated. Nope, WR coach Garret McGuire is the son of Rhule's buddy Joey McGuire. Joey didn't want him on his own staff at Texas Tech, so he's up here at NU, because if you're a D1 coach that hires your own son, the kid better be shit-hot at his job. This way his kid gets paid without endangering dad's job.

There’s a good chance this feeling will hang around for at least another long week. There isn’t anything I’ve seen since the Colorado game which inspires me to believe that Nebraska will make the Ohio State game interesting. As for Satterfield, he needs to get more creative in his play calling, perhaps move the pocket for Raiola and encourage him to use his feet more. I’m not impressed with our RB production. Some of the guys look slow and they hardly ever break tackles or make defensive backs miss. The wideouts can’t seem to separate from the defense, and they need to catch the ball when it touches their hands. Raiola needs to put the ball on the money more consistently and with zip. Too much air under the ball at times. I don’t know if the schemes are bad, but you know Scott Frost as a play caller would not have so much trouble scoring with this offense. I’m not confident the defense alone can carry the team to victories in any of the games against UCLA, Wisconsin, USC or Iowa. We’ll see.

Do not take this the wrong way. But the way we lose this next game will tell us exactly where we're at. Them boys have up last Saturday. Can they declare that they can stand against adversity? The thing y'all ain't even seeing is how it was a domino effect. 1. Failed kick return, 2. They don't stop Indiana their first drive., 3. Dowdell fumbles in the red zone (The players were already feeling that this was a desperation moment), 4. Indiana establishea that they are one of them ones by scoring again to take a 20 pt lead. People say "It the coaches fault." I saw for myself that the players destroyed themselves. 1st quarter is all we had to do the entire game and it would have been one hell of a tight game. But the gave up the second that they thought they were inferior. When is the last time we lost to Purdue? Rutgers? These are games that we won in the past so they could show up to beat them. That Indiana team showed up the way Nebraska was supposed to and dominated their opponent. Yeah Rhule needed to pull Raiola out because bro was getting cooked in that kitchen. He's too green. But everyone else? Naw fr what happened? That game wasn't just a loss. They gave up. CU was different. They had to get that get back. But now, they have to define what they want to be without artificial rivalries boosting moral. They better not give up like that again.

I don’t feel any better after “cooling off”. We’re worse at competing with top 20 teams than FCS schools with less than 1% our resources and talent are. It’s year 2 and this staff is paid just as well or better than staffs like Indiana. It’s one thing to lose, but this fan base is one of the most supportive in the country. Doesn’t deserve to be given games that are 50 point blowouts not even worth watching. Rhule is too loyal to his friends who don’t get the job done. None of us can do terrible in our job without change happening, why is this staff different? Good staffs don’t lose by 50 when they have more talent than the opponent. It’s a complete joke. We need to hire a coach who’s proven they can consistently compete vs the top 25 or someone who wins 80% of their games like Cignetti. I don’t trust Rhule or this staff anymore.

Regarding firing coaches mid season, I have zero problem with it. It not only tells the remaining staff to get their shit together but also it tells the players that their starting job isn't safe if they don't perform. Satterfield just has no imagination. The offense looks like a high school team. Zero pre-snap motion. I can't believe that. That's the best way to see if a defense is in zone or man coverage. Our offense is way more competent than last season, and yet we still cant score. something doesn't add up.

Keep the season goals in mind and toss this film in the trash.

For a follow-up, Nebraska never was one to bounce back after a major loss, not since the game that SUH, forced a pick six against Missouri, and they won. I wish I could hopeI COULD shit in one hand, and hope in the other. The one full of crap negates the other one.

Firing people in the middle of the season is only adding more confusion. If Ruhle can’t solve the problem then who can? No good coach wants to come to that graveyard.

At 5-1 that kool-aid was pretty good. Once again we have jumped to the conclusion that we must be great in 2 years. BTW the run game rests with Henrich Harberg. Matt seems to have lost sight of that.

Getting blown out like that is very disconcerting. I don't recall seeing a coach losing that dramatically and ever turning things around. There is no excuse if you want to succeed, and activity does not equate to acheivement. The biggest concern is a single word- regression. I've seen no improvement in this team since week three. There is no excuse for a program with these resources and a coach making $7 million a year. I'm honestly not optimistic. This season has been a huge disappointment. Let's see what happens Saturday.

It’s amazing to me how other teams improve as the season goes on, but Nebraska just continues its mediocre season, even getting worse. I think their season is done. Except for possibly, UCLA, there are no more winnable games. Rhule will coach out his contract, Nebraska doesn’t want to keep paying coaches for nothing, but then he’ll be gone.

A mid-season firing does nothing but add more chaos. Let them figure it out...if possible. Hell, outside of OSU, the remainder of the games are winnable. Stay the course, it's year 2. Roll the dice and see what happens. That said, 10 minutes after the Iowa game, the axe should swing. Foley at least. Barthel? Satt? McGuire?

Offense has no quick game. They look slow and everything is played to the boundary. Defense is great when they can just react and attack. They are terrible when they have to think and be patient.

I have never liked a mid-season coach fire at any level. We have things to fix, and we have been exposed, but who hasn't except a few teams. Reality check is that we are still building and NOT back YET. To Win 9 games a year takes 4-5 stars that actually perform across the board. Look at the best teams and what they have-Jiimies and joes matter. Sooners lost their Heisman QB and they expect to still be killing it and it probably won't happen for them. I get the sense we are building a program to be 8 wins a year and punch through now and then to 10 or maybe a title run. Give everyone a chance-take a deep breath and remember how bad we used to be. GBR

I dont think its conducive to what Rhule is trying to establish at the university. That is the reason Foley is still on the payroll even though weve seen his no vote of confidence in the special teams. Sat is definitely on the hot seat! No big play potential with a QB and Recievers that have big play capabilities. Too soon to pull the plug and do an overhaul. We have the athletes , we need to finish the culture establishment and then look at the next step in this rebuild.

Soo... 5-2 for the record, just over halfway through the season. Or, ...5 games remaining. I have a tough time believing that firing anyone right now will make a worthwhile difference. It might make some folks feel good for 5 seconds. ..then what? Does Rhule call his offensive plays himself? Does that improve anything? I'm no football expert by any stretch. In general though, trying to change course mid-stream rarely works. Five games might give time to fine-tune a few things, maybe get special teams cracking more vigorously. Major changes, like a different offense, ...that needs to happen during the off-season.

I think Matt Rhule is a great person, but I don't think he can take Nebraska to a relevant team. He seems lost in the post game interviews, and regularly talks about something not being in his head. We should have tried to get the Wisconsin coach, but took Rhule and signed him to an 8 year contact. Ooooooh my.

Satterfield was never the right choice. His resume has been abysmal for over a decade. Both he and Foley need to go ASAP. Love Rhule, but if he can't make the necessary administrative moves, then he, unfortunately, needs to go too. I don't want that, but they're going entire halves of games without scoring a point. Make the moves Matt, or the AD will do it for you....and you'll be with them.

I’ll stick by my 7 win season easily. I’ll stick with satterfield through the season but that’s it, he’s gotta go. Lastly. Why are we not using Heinrich more. Dylan is a stud, but if you can’t get the run game going bring Heinrich in for option reads or rpo. Bring him in for 1-2 plays to spice it up. Watching Dylan have no one to throw to is painful

Metrics I need to see…. Recruit…… recruit lineman from sun up to sun down…… Spend millions of NIL money on…… Lineman….. recruit lineman here recruit lineman there satterfield Can recruit lineman from anywhere. Tony white needs….. lineman. Spend the millions of dollars of NIL money on defensive lineman. Make Nebraska football great again and start controlling the line of scrimmage like Indiana does like Ohio state does like Oregon does like Penn state does. Not to take anything away from raiola but if Nebraska had an offensive line and an average QB Nebraska would win games quit putting the season on the QB’s shoulders frost did that and it didn’t work and it sure as hell ain’t gonna work now. That’s what I want to see Tony white and satterfield do and next year Nebraska will be way better than they are now. Can’t win games being one dimensional you have to establish the run game and if they can do that the pass game will open up for them.
