Corneal Abrasion

This is something called a corneal abrasion and you can see in the yellow area that is where the cornea is damaged. This is something that can be caused from a variety of reasons like something got in your eye, maybe something scratched or poked your eye, maybe you got a piece of dust or metal or glitter in your eye and it rubbed off part of the cornea. And you can see that the staining there that's in yellow that means that those cells are damaged and we're going to need to do something to help heal those up.
Under the eyelid you can see here in this pink area that's underneath the lid. The lid is actually flipped so we can see underneath it to see what was causing that issue and it's also really inflamed and irritated. The best treatment for this is a bandage contact lens or a amniotic membrane depending on how severe the problem is and also some topical antibiotics.
So if you have this condition usually your eyes are really irritated, red, painful, watery, so make sure if you're having any of those symptoms to see your eye doctor because it could in fact be an abrasion and part of your cornea could be missing!
