My bulb/corm was a freebie at a local greenhouse. I took it home and planted it and it sprouted immediately. It is currently about three feet of a speckled trunk with an umbrella of leaves at the top. It looks like a tree. I live in Pennsylvania so it will go inside in the fall. I am anxious to see if I can winter it over in the house with good light and humidity by building a small greenhouse around it!! I hope so. I know they need specialized care but so far, so good. Wish me luck

Thanks for that, I had to watch 6 videos to find out the full story. Two time lapse, 3 educational ones but all on the bloody flower and then yours which was what I wanted to know after the first educational one, if you know what I mean? Thanks for explaining that, yours was the most educational.

This is me. I watched a time lapse, then I was thinking “hmm, surely it does not just die like that” so I watched an educational one but they were pretty vague so I asked myself “how are there flowers inside that things” so I watched another one where they cut the thing out then my next question was “so what if it’s pollinated ? Is there fruit ?” Then I found this. Like you said, it does complete the story.

The seeds CANNOT be frozen or stored like some seeds they must be fresh to germinate. The seeds are recalcitrant which is the technical term.

Is there anyway to eat that fruit? I know it’s poisonous but some fruit and berries that are poisonous to humans can be cooked or processed into a safe to eat Jam or syrup

That seed sprout becomes one gigantic leaf that looks like a tree!? A variegated leaf! That plant is astounding. I think some advanced civilization long time extinct created that plant to boggle a future civilization! Lol. That and the ginkgo trees.

I live in India (Andhra Pradesh infact), I searched the internet for months(believe me) and I unfortunately couldn't find a good source in India for Titan Arum, Of course I found some foreign websites that sell Titan Arum but Importing them into India is a very complicated bureaucratic process like getting Phytosanitary certificates(fumigation and inspections too), Import permits (maybe even a CITES permit) and contacting a shipper, filling the forms... The list goes on and on..... By the the way a Titan Arum bloomed in Kerala once.....

You cant buy it because its rare and almost extinct...
@karen2.
@karen2. 3 жыл бұрын
Maybe you can buy it, but it's really long to bloom, and the plant only can reproduce from the other Titan Arum...
