I've crocheted for 5 decades and thought I was pretty good ... but you are phenomenal! I was working an adaptation of this pattern: CARON MARLED CROCHET MOSS STITCH STRIPES BLANKET (pattern available for free at Yarnspiration) and had to frog it (rip it out and start again) roughly 8 times because the directions were not producing a right angle corner. As I was searching for advice via KZbin and I finally came across this video and gave it a try. PERFECT! My hats off to you for making this simple and painless. LOL Thank you!

I am a total beginner with a crochet, not crazy to make wash cloths but I like how calming the work is while listening to a podcast. Thank you for this tutorial so clear and detailed! Hopefully one day I will get to make a wash cloth as neat as yours. Until then I am turning yarn into wiggly pieces of wash cloths perfect for cleaning around the kitchen sink :) Cheers!

Great instruction and love the pattern. A constructive critique about the video itself. Next time, if you're going to crochet a lot of white, I would recommend using a non-white background. This would help with the white balance of the camera, and make the stitches on the white easier to see, preventing that weird shine/glare.

I watch your videos and love them so much. I am new to crochet and was hoping you could do a simple video for me. I’m making a shawl with fine yarn and I’m having a hard time figuring out how to hide when I join two different skeins of yarn. How do I weave in the ends when you can see both sides of the project. Could you do a video with tips on hiding these ends? Thanks again as always for all your videos!
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Michelle! I'm so glad you have been enjoying my videos! My favorite way to join a new ball of yarn is the Russian Join. It leaves no knots and no ends to weave in at all, just a slightly thicker few stitches in the fabric. I do not currently have a video on that, but I can add it to my to-do list for future videos. There are other videos that demonstrate that technique, just search for "how to do the Russian Join" on KZbin. Hope this helps! Thanks!

Hi, I hope you get this. I like your version of C2C. But I didn't want to chain 1 after every stitch I decided to add 2 stitches at the end. I have a great triangle going at the moment. And when I turn it I can the stripes are at a angle. What I can't see is how this is to become a square. Will it? I didn't add a 3rd stitch in my very first stitch. Can you reply? Great instructions you provided.
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Keith. The square shape is formed after the short sides of your triangle are the width you want the finished cloth to be, then instead of increasing stitches at the beginning and end of each row, you'll need to decrease stitches at the beginning and end of each row. This will taper the sides back down (making the reverse shape of your original triangle) to finish your square. (Think of cutting a square in half diagonally. The triangle you have so far is the first half, and decreasing stitches on the ends of the rows makes the second half of the square, but all in one piece.). I hope this helps!

On the decrease at the end of the row are you half double crocheting in the top of the of the chain two are you going into the chain two space itself??
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 9 ай бұрын
Either way will work, it depends on your preference. You can insert the hook into the top chain stitch of the chain 2, or you can insert the hook in the space between the chain 2 and the stitch next to it. I typically prefer to insert into the actual chain stitch. I hope this helps!

Thanks for this video! I'm inspired. I would like to adapt it to make a dish towel like cloth, and so would need to work it 'evenly' (?) to make it rectangular instead of square. Can you help a girl out??? lol. (14:30, to note where the decreases begin)
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ellen! To make it into a rectangle, after you work according to the pattern until the towel is the width you want, you’ll need to increase at one side and decrease at the other. Place a stitch marker on the side of the piece you want to decrease. On the decrease side, if it’s the beginning of a row, chain 2 and skip a stitch as instructed at the beginning of row 32. If the end of your row is on the decrease side, skip a stitch and hdc in the beg ch sp as instructed at the end of row 32. On the increase side of your piece, continue working the increases as normal. I hope this helps!

I am starting a c2c moss stitch blanket. Why do you do a half double at the end of row?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn Жыл бұрын
I do a half double crochet at the end of the row to prevent the edge of the piece from being tighter than the rest of the fabric. I find that it restricts the stretch of the edge of the piece (which can make the edge shrink a bit) if a single crochet is used at the ends of the rows. The half double crochet adds just a little bit of length to the edge so that it can stretch with the rest of the fabric. I hope this helps!

If you want to make a blanket what would you chain
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Carolyn! This project begins at the corner, so you would still only chain 3 as for the washcloth. It is worked diagonally, increased to the final width, and then the decrease rows bring you back to the other corner. To make it larger for a blanket, you will just continue working the increase rows until the short sides are the length and width you want. Then, you will work the decrease rows to work down to the opposite corner. I hope this helps!

Hi Cindy! If you're left handed, here's how you can flip the video. Play the video on a portable device, and set it up so the screen is facing a mirror. Then, if you watch the video in the mirror, it will be reversed so it appears left handed. I hope this helps!

how would you crochet the c2c moss stitch into a handtowel that would go on a oven or fridge door?
@YayForYarn
@YayForYarn 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Nancy! If you want it to be large enough for a hand towel, you could just continue repeating row 3 (in any stripe pattern you want) until it is the size you want. You would then begin working the "row 33" rows in any stripe pattern until you get down to the corner. This type of hand towel would be square. If you want it to be a rectangle, that would require altering the pattern. I would like to do a matching rectangle hand towel pattern when I get the chance, but it will probably be awhile before I can fit that into my schedule. Hope this helps!
