C2C Moss Stitch Tutorial

Crochet moss stitch (sometimes also called granite stitch or linen stitch) is an incredibly easy and beautiful stitch. In this variation it is worked on the bias, or from corner to corner (C2C). The fabric created is wonderfully stretchy and has a lovely drape. This pattern works beautifully with variegated yarns to disperse the colors randomly. It also works well with gradient stripes to create a subtle shift from color to color.
The pattern will help you create a square or rectangle of C2C Moss Stitch in any size of your choosing.

Thank you sooooo much for working out how to do this. I LOVE the moss stitch, but all I've done with it so far is back and forth to make a square or in the round to make a "granny" square. This is definitely more challenging and I'm sooooo glad I found this video, so I don't have to figure it out myself. I'm definitely going to watch this several times and practice along with you, until it's ingrained in my brain.

OMGosh, you make this so easy by showing where and when to use stitch markers. I've tried the moss stitch once before, but I never got past the second row because I couldn't find my chain spaces. Hobby lobby has striped yarn and working a regular C2C it makes perfect stripes.. I made just a normal size scarf. I had no idea how it would work out at the time. Thank you for this tutorial. Great job teaching!

I have not mastered the c2c technique- so I appreciate the background information about it. I do like the moss stitch and crocheted a full-size bedspread last year a row a day “temperature blanket” very interested I. The c2c- I have a problem with the end, turning chain and beginning row stitch. I’m sure that’s mostly everyone same problem. Thanks for this tutorial especially with the rectangle! Great video!

Considering Seed Stitch came long before Linen/Granite/Moss. You really need to invest in open sliding stitch markers. You spend more time opening the safety pins than you do trying to teach. If you’re going to teach a rectangle you need to have a separate tutorial, not try to show both in 1.
