Very helpful. I'm installing bead on everything in my basement bathroom install with one exception and will use Strait Flex for the one angle. This showed me how and confirmed that my existing vinyl bead I got today won't work. Thanks!

My question is who the hell framed it like that

I notice you use both the strait-flex and their competitor from no-coat level line which do you preferÉ

how many coats of finishing mud did it take to cover the flex edge?I'm doing dry walled beams?I'm using standard tape at the the two ceiling inside joints of the box but the flex on the bottom edges.
@Interior_Works3 жыл бұрын
After the flex is applied and dry, 2 coats of finishing mud is standard

I had an outside corner (obtuse angle) that cracked on me, using vinyl corner bead. What's the best way to redo that? I had to tear it off and am starting over. Should I fill void with 45 minute mud, then put corner bead on after it's dried?
@Interior_Works Жыл бұрын
That's what I'd do, if it's a large void it helps to fill it for more solid surface area to adhere the bead. Sometimes the flexible bead retains some "spring" to it, and it unfolds/detaches before it dries, creasing it back and forth a few more times can help soften out the tension.

Thanks for the video. I have a house project with angles like this and I'm far from a pro. Here goes nothing...
@Interior_Works4 жыл бұрын
The most important thing is having lots of mud on the corner, especially if the framing isn't straight, and also shaping the angle of the straightflex to match the corner angle. Rarely, if there's any spot not cooperating due to uneven framing, I'll pin it with a thumbtack until its dry and adhered. This is how all the finishers do these angles, at least where I live.

What's the reason you fold it that way instead of the other way?
@Interior_Works Жыл бұрын
It's hard to explain, but there's a subtle shape difference at the corner tip depending on which way it's folded. Makes a noticeable difference. It's all on the product instructions on the box.

Mix some Elmer’s glue into your mud. That will keep it from cracking in a couple of years
