Question? Why can’t you do 1st coat with a 12 box straddling the tape. Then when dry comeback and do a run with the 12” box down the middle? Wouldn’t that give you a similar “hump” ? With less mud? Thanks
@Interior_Works14 күн бұрын
@@Adanacon That's also a good method, I usually do all the buttjoints with the box, exactly as you inquired, which works very well. Some of the videos I have are just oriented towards DIY viewers, so I just show with the basic tools.

The soap make the mud easier to flow and spread. has nothing to do with bubbles.Soap mud is easier to sand.
@JohnD-f2o15 күн бұрын
I would imagine it would work. Water has a lot of surface tension and cohesion between molecules. So the soap breaks that cohesion causing the mud to spread smother.

I was always under the impression fabric softener was a better surfactant. I use it to clean my paint brushes and it’s awesome. Technically a surfactant makes water wetter so it penetrates deeper in the fabric or material. I will try it in my mud next.

Well after years of running tools, you just convinced me to buy a super taper! Is that a bungee cord hooked to the box ? Thanks for the video man!
@Interior_WorksАй бұрын
Ya, some guys will use a pail or plastic tub with a couple holes to loop a belt through, but I've found a bungee cord to be more comfortable, and a disposable empty box means less stuff to wash.

Firstly, thanks for the great content. Ive often referred back to videos for valuable info. Im reaching out for an answer to an issue that keeps happening in my lap-overs where the buts intersect the joins. When sanding, i get an edge that won't sand out... tried all different final coats and combos of softer over harder. Would be grateful for any suggestions 🙏 Mark (Aus)
