This pedal sure does bite and the tone control seems to work well. I'm rarely close to overly bright pedals, but this has definitely been worked out with the Gladio. It's a peculiar pedal, where normally used adjectives don't really apply, as the tone isn't thin, it isn't fat, but it is souped up for pick attack.

Hi Shawn! Thank you so much as always for your videos friend. This preamp sounds fantastic and I saw it first on another cool channel and I've thought about it ever since. It ain't easy to throw a pedal on your board that can truly take thge place of your amps drive channel!!
@shinjial3 жыл бұрын
I missed watching your videos and came to check out what was your latest. I just saw this pedal demoed by Pete Thorn, who did a terrific job at it. Seeing you demo it though really shows what’s supposed to do, since your playing seems inspired by Robben Ford (among other things) - at least it’s in the same neighborhood. Also, it sounds truly great. Very natural and amp like, in a way I’ve only heard from the Revival Drive compact.

Hi Shawn, I love the pedal's clean knob. Other manufacturers of overdrive pedals should also take a closer look at this. Allow me one more remark: you keep mentioning that you do many or all (?) tests of overdrives with the Suhr Bella. This is certainly an advantage for comparability. Nevertheless, I would always be interested in how the pedals sound with different amps. Maybe you see a possibility to make such a video one day?

Would love to hear a head to head with the Gladio vs Vertex SSS
@cyriltuan28143 жыл бұрын
For dynamic reflection, gladio definitely. For sounds, I also prefer gladio, but vertex is ok, the problem is too low gain to play more kinds of song, so vertex is tend to be boost.
@2010njdevil3 жыл бұрын
I've played them both, love both of them but they are different beasts....not entirely but I thought the Vertex was far more dynamic. The Gladio changed the tone and sounded great, but......I wanted a Dumble emulation boost and the Vertex SSS nails it. Other variables including amp and guitar obviously are big variable but both do wonder in "taming" and reshaping the thicker tones of a an LP or PRS. The Vertex I also thinks pairs better with tube screamer and other overdrives....I pair mine with the Blue Note by J. Rockett.

Stellar playin' as always Shawn. This unit really brings out the SRV tonal influence. This unit is a glassy, gritty booster overall. My only reservation is the aesthetic design. Chrome knobs are OK @ home & maybe in the studio, but a big 'NO- NO' under hot lights onstage - LIVE, they are pretty much invisible & useless for viewing settings on the fly.
@ShawnTubbs3 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much! Yes, I tend to agree with you. The knobs look really great but they can be hard to see when it comes to quick reference settings. They're easily changed out.

I have and love this pedal, but the whole "Dumble style" thing is marketing speak nonsense. It's a tubescreamer with mosfet clipping diodes folks. The clean control and switchable compression make it a super versatile Zendrive type pedal, but the architecture has way more to do with a Tubescreamer than, well, any amplifier, including any variety of Dumble.
