I am a single mother. I had problem being lonely when I was younger. Now, I am in my 60s and have found the Lord, and life is so contented, and the loneliness is long gone. Praise the Lord. I never knew that the Lord could cure my loneliness till I gave my life to Him.

I'm single and celibate for 14yrs now. And, FWIW, I've have my line in the water with a good deal of actively searching during those years. Appreciate this message. Well done. The subject of Singleness, Marriage, Divorce, & Remarriage is one that I've studied in-depth and one that I believe the churches have GREATLY neglected. Opinions fly like fleas off a dog's back but VERY few have actually studied or taught on what Scripture actually says.

This needs to be taught more in the church and at home. It should be a "given" part of conversations we have in our home with our children.

Some Christian’s genuinely believe that we are all called to get married, but that’s clearly not the case. Some people are called to singleness. I think the problem is that we create standards and then people feel pressured to meet those standards, but the standards are set by us. Not by God.

Can a husband decide, after 20 years of a blessed marriage(now 29), that God told him this, that and much unbiblical beliefs and ditch the marriage? Though not divorced, I feel stuck, and he's only getting worse. We've been separated for several years, tho he frequently is stalking me. Come quickly, LORD Jesus!

I do love Pastor Gary. But at 56, I don't know if I can get through yet another message on being alone*, when it's done by someone who is married. Why not have a single pastor do these types of messages? Why have someone who got married young, has adult children, and I am sure can barely even remember what it's like to come home to an empty house and be entirely alone, 24/7? *That's what "singleness" IS. It's being ALONE.

I am single, but not alone. There is a difference. My younger roommate (36 y/o) didn't want to go to church because he was tired of seeing men his age with wives and children. It can be hard to take advice from someone who has never been in your shoes. But the problems is the advice Gary is giving is from God - Gary is just the messenger. He knows full well he will never know what it's like to be 56 and single - but that doesn't mean he has the right to skip that section of scripture. I am single at 47. I had a coworker who kept telling me I have a lot to offer women. At the time I was 330 lbs, poor, going bald, and a heavy introvert personality - and my coworker was 6'5" athletic attractive black man with great sense of humor. How would he every know what I was going through? Well, I didn't hold it against him because he cared for me and was just trying to keep me motivated. Gary is passing on information but he's also reassuring people like us that maybe God has other plans for us. I am not thankful for being single but I know I've been able to help out people a lot more being single than being married with kids - and I'm thankful for that opportunity.

Should Jesus put in this example since His life purpose only for God Father's main purpose to save the world and not to build earthly family then to bring another 100% man and 100% God spirit offspring?
@johnlaforest8033Ай бұрын
Passion at that time represents the focus desire of the heart ,, heart heart heart ,, what happened with the Hebrews lol happens to all desires to the heart ,, Revelation? There was more evidence than ever before and still man hardened ? What their hearts. Hhhm seems to be a common theme ,, so to say to you I say this God didn't invent divorce, was not his intentions at all ,, so to let it rest upon one's own shoulders , what God joins no man can tare usunder,,, I believe having some experience with God that includes one self , we expect God to forgive and he will doesn't mean we can't bring curses upon oneself , which means Solomon would say there's a time and a season for everything done under the sun,, proper planing is the key ,, hence the barn story lol ,, oh well pray and love God and ask always all day long ask and you will have a conversation with what's done and which way he wants one to go , one thing God's always proven to me is beyond a question he's right ,, now in Jesus name lvjn

the simple cold hard truth is that single men in the church are treated as little more than a leper, the unclean one. Not worthy of a woman so not worthy of the church. I speak from experience when I say because I am single I am not even considered to participate in the church beyond the manual labor. As usual, the sermons on this subject always turn into an impromptu stand up comedy routine further marginalizing single people within the church community while simultaneously pathologically avoiding the reality of loneliness, separation and exclusion single people face in the church community.

Why do Christians laugh over sexual sin remarks???
@smarterworkout2 ай бұрын
That's a good question. As a Christian combating porn addiction I don't think we should laugh over sexual sin remarks - but I can't hold it against people. Jesus said on the cross "Father, forgive them for they know not what they do". We have to do the same. I get frustrated when a pastor looks at me like a freak when I tell him I am a porn addict - but he just doesn't know and probably will never know. I must forgive him and practice more patience on my part. I laugh when pastors talk about gluttony - because I think of some fat guy like Fat Bast___ from Austin Powers. But I shouldn't because there are 600 lb people out there who are going to die from over eating. We have to forgive others and maybe even change our perspective. I had a cop friend who constantly ripped on idiots breaking the law. I thought he was kind of a jerk but then I realized his sarcasm was his only way of dealing with the everyday stress of his job. So who knows, maybe the Christians who laugh are just trying to keep from falling apart? I don't know. I just need to work on myself first.
