If your freedom harms others, it's an abuse of freedom. The pastor, Hamrick is absolutely right! Love any sermon that you have! You are a wise teacher. Thanks.

I’ve heard a lot of these rules growing up. I’m in my late 60s and I remember before smoking cigarettes became a Big Deal in social circles, you could find smoking area at church activities. Now, seems society believes nicotine should be forbidden. Those same people are ok with gossiping, placing sports above God, abortive rights under some circumstances. I agree we all should have a relationship with God our Father and ask Him what He thinks.

Really opened up these verses to me. Thank you! Using an example of pizza and beer made sense. It is not okay with everyone so always consider others first.

Here in the Philippines we have this same dilemma of whether it's okay to eat food prepared for a certain patron saint's feast or not. Some Christians like me says it's okay but me personally, I don't actively go out and eat at other people's home. But if they go to my house and give me food, I'll accept it willingly. Free food is a good thing😄😆

At my daughters job the woman had decided to take the jug of water and make "moon water" which is definitely a New Age practice. My daughter wouldn't drink it, because at a point in her life she had messed around with New Age and tarot. I told her to just pray over it but she refused and wouldn't drink it at all. I didn't push it because it was a personal conviction.

Considering that people often put herbs or essential oils in moon water, it's probably safest not to drink it. Who knows how it's been adulterated?

I find this message a bit confusing as it is said in the beginning that things to become addictive is to rather stay without it. Now it is told that Spurgeon of all great teachers found it fine in his spirit to be addictive to nicotine-he preached it from the pulpit, so you tell us. Well, well, no wonder he looks so gloom and unhappy on pictures of him. Nicotine does that to the body. And then secondly, it is clearly stated in Rev 21: 8 who will receive the pit of hell that burns with smoke, namely: unbeliving and abominable and immoral persons and sorcerers(pharmakia/iaw drugs of which smoking is a definate killing substance), idolaters ( also of which the crutch of smoking, alcohol, food, etc to give so called calmness/ control over anxiety) and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns... Also, as life seats in the lungs where His Ruach breath was breathed into every baby at birth, how can the Spirit of life in our bodies that is understood as the the temple of His Holy Spirit, also be a house for the temple of Death(Satan) who comes to destroy and to kill...surely Mr Spurgeon did not know about the packets of cigars and cigarettes that warns every moment of the day that smoking kills. I must say, we should not listen to sooth saying about addictive substances. I have lost all my dear ones to emphezema, lung cancer and heart failure due to smoking. Even my marriage, as I am allergic to smoke after contracting Extra Pulmonary TB at my workplace and was warned of inhaling secondary smoke and because of smoking (addictive behaviour) was chosen above me and a marrriage of almost 40yrs, I was told to pack my bags and leave. Anxiety caused terrible lying and total rejection. I found the last part of this teaching strongly against the Truth of His Word. But, one cAn come free of ALL addiction, if one goes to our geracious Lord, repent and become free with the power of HIS Holy Spirit in us. Alone it is impossible.

Wow this is amazing!! I agree with you. It's amazing at how many Christian's truly believe they can drink wine and it's not a problem. Although they drink it daily. Why would Jesus make fermented wine for people who was drinking already for them to become drunk? I just don't get it. Also, He said I will not drink with you again from the fruit of the vine until I am with you in my fathers house. Does this mean there will be fermented wine in heaven for us to drink? Does from the fruit of the vine mean juice? I just can't help but think we will not have fermented wine that we could possibly get drunk on in heaven.

Geraldine, I’ve always wondered about that too. I no longer have any alcohol ever, 35 years…. but I used to overindulge as a youth.

Yes, you are free to smoke cigarettes but you must also realise that there are consequences that you must live with. My wife's brother in law smoked for many years and now has emphysema. Now he regrets his freedom to smoke. You are not immune just because you claim to be a Christian.
