Blue Cornflower is a gem!! I received a whole set for a wedding gift in 1964 and have used all of the pieces to this day in 2023.

I have lots of blue cornflower Corning Ware! Inherited some from my grandmother, and got a lot more over the years. I LOVE it! I always have my eye peeled for additional pieces.

My mom has a single Spice of Life casserole dish & two PYREX ones (in addition to mixing bowls) I only just learned was so special. I now have a goal of collecting both types of dishes for my kitchen.

I also have three of the frying pans. I don't want to rob somebody but I don't want to give them away either.

I have and LOVE some of the cornflower Corning Ware! I was super close to getting a cornflower 'Tramp Stamp'. True story. Besides, this stuff is great to replace all that toxic plastic crap.😉

There's a BIG difference between that vintage blue cornflower piece of corning ware and the plain stoneware piece sold today. The original pyroceram corning ware could be used anywhere, stovetop, oven freezer, microwave, and it could go from one extreme to the other without breaking. The French White stoneware made today is nowhere near as versatile or durable, as the corning ware of the past.

The French White with vertical ridges was originally made from Pyroceram, and it is the same as the original Cornflower Blue. The new French White is stoneware, not Pyroceram. They have released new stoneware with the Cornflower Blue design as well. Look for Pyroceram, (smooth bottom) and you know it's the good stuff.

That cornflower pattern will never get old in my eyes. I got the pieces my step mom had when she passed and have added more thru eBay. Brings back memories.

My guess on the ridges was aesthetics. A fantastic way to keep control over his design/creation!

I have some dishes of the blue patterns. Also I'm from corning. My husband worked for the company that makes that dinnerware.

I picked up a rare piece recently. A Corningware egg pan with lid. (small fry pan) It has the blue flowers and will hold and cook 2 eggs.

I’m lucky to have inherited several white and blue serving dishes and dishes you can cook small portions in-like the one you featured-from my mom, so👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾💝

I have a lot of Corning, including a fabulous electromatic skillet consisting of the hot plate , skillet and handles to hold it in place. Like mid-century percolators these things never die. Fun fact - Corning has played a giant role in space exploration manufacturing telescope lens etc. since forever. I think they made the Mount Wilson observatory telescope lens.

The ridges can help in making it non stick, a sort of ....

The ridges aren't on the inside of the dish, only outside.

Why is it so valuable? I'm seeing stuff online saying they are worth thousands
@helenreid70224 жыл бұрын
They are not valuable, can find them at almost any thrift shop!

Don't believe everything you see on the internet! There is too much out there for any of it to be worth much. I use mine daily and it's not going anywhere!

👍👍 I have one qt CorningWare. One has blueprint on it the other things like it's just a boss on the bottom. Don't know which ones older is there a way to tell and how much money can I get for a 1/qt with lid what would be the value? Don't know if you're still doing it but if you could let me know I'd really appreciate it I have an appointment tomorrow at 11:00

I use it every day and also the ridges and tons of the 1970s blue and the veggies in yellow and orange is it worth anything?
@Tsch63733 жыл бұрын
Forget the notion that it may be 'worth something', simply use it and enjoy it! Mine is used everyday, it's not going anywhere!

This evening I bought a set of 3 assorted sized casseroles with lids, and the 1 qt saucepan, in the cornflakes design on Facebook marketplace. I am soooo stoked to have this amazing dishware in my kitchen....it's going to replace multiple other useless pieces.

You forgot to mention how valuable the old CorningWare is now. Especially the blue cornflower design. It's a collector's item and gets a high price. Great info. Thank you.

April 2021,… Just found out those corning Ware corn flower design dishes are not worth thousands that eBay and Amazon advertise for. They’re saying that’s a scam, even verify on KZbin talked about the corn flower design and said they’re not worth anywhere near that so definitely check before you buy any.
