Hi John Boulton welcome to my channel, this is just one of 10 different old fashioned recipes that I have made into a video, currently I working on vegan and vegetarian recipes videos when I get time, but going back to Pasty pastry, replace lard with white shorting, and you could mix white shorting with veg margarine. Now with doing this use cold water, same with just white shorting laters Steve

When I make my cheese and onion pasties, I just put the raw veg and grated cheese (mixed) straight into the pastry case, salt n pepper...little knob of butter...then close and crimp with egg wash...never have cooked any of the veg..and my pasties always turn out great. Everyone different though and your pasties looked mmmm yummy.😋😋...thanks for sharing your lovely video...xx

In my 74years I have never ever tasted such a pastry as this - it is magnificent! I covered a beef and onion gravy mix using the same twice egg wash. Even my wife said that she had never tasted a pie crust that could ever compare to this one. Most of all it is so easy to make! Take my advice - use this pastry for everything that needs a pastry covering! Thank you so very much!

Although these are not strictly vegetarian, they are very tasty. It's possible to do the pastry with Trex!

Hi yes you just make it the same way, funny thing when make them at home, I always use white shorting , I prefer less lard and more veggies type ingredients, next year now that sounds funny, I will have to make some more veggie video recipes 😀 laters

That first pinch of salt confused me a little bit as it looked like a handful. LOL Thanks for the recipe.

Can you swap out the lard for vegetable suet for a vegetarian option?
@crazybaker13 жыл бұрын
Best to use white shorting which is a vegetarian option, funny thing is when I made the video I remembered vegetarian food, you can also use puff pastry made with white shorting very often I make them for my bakery shop 😋 laters Steve 😉

I would never use hot crust pastry for any pasty. Way to hard to eat, the consistency is horrible for a pasty, great for pies but definitely a no no for a pasty
@crazybaker12 жыл бұрын
Funny thing is been doing it for years now, when you get the right lard it's perfect for all types of pasties, pies and even sausage rolls, it's not hard pastry if made right, ok I am a professional Baker that can make the difference 😉 😀 laters Steve

Dude says he will serve vegetarians a Cornish pasty which is NOT vegetarian instead of cheese and onion. Also beware his recipe calls for lard. Deeeply uncool person.
@crazybaker13 жыл бұрын
Just to point out if you want to make it vegetarian go for it, it's a old school recipe one of many people want 😉 lard is a favorite for manufacturers and is in 95% of UK products today so it's a very cool 😎 laters 😉
