CORNWALL: Disaster Holiday Is Nearly Over

Today we give an update on Dans Broken arm and how we've both been coping. Our Cornwall Holiday has been a disaster from the start but will we let that ruin our last few days here or do we now just look forward to our next trip? Watch this space who knows where will be.

Hi guys & welcome back. Send us some of that rain please (Somerset). A few years ago I had a stinking cold and then I couldn’t buy more than 2 packs of anything that contained aspirin or paracetamol when shopping at Tesco. So I stopped at a local shop and bought more. Years later I now have a good stock (ignore best before). Because of energy cost I have recently bought a 1500wh battery power station c/w solar panels but I also have solar panels on the house. I now charge it for as long as it needs by plugging it in the mains when the sun shines & I use it to charge everything and recently to power the air fan in the house. I also bought a 12v car mini immersion heater - ideal for making a cup of tea/coffee any time. Probably never get my money back but I don’t care cuz it’s a bit more independence. I hope things cheer up for you both soon 🍇 for Dan & 💐 for Mazzy

What I’d give for some of that rain. I’ve been frying in similar temperatures to what I had in Portugal, last month! The ground is parched and so am I. Who says there is no such thing as global warming. Never mind, cooler weather, with monsoon like rain will soon arrive in Scotland! It’ll probably be much the same in parts of England too. I was a gardener at one time too Dan. Grass can survive in drought conditions and where tents etc have been sited on it. I hope that you are beginning to feel better after your accident. Hang on in there good people, things can only get better.

I have my solar charger in my works van charging from 12v supply and solar panel when on jobs, I run my mixer off it, charge my tools off it instead of charging at home. So I'm using my gen to keep costs down at home. You'll be on the mend soon Dan, Mazzy is a good Nurse. 👍

Almost 90 today and fairly humid in the most northern part of Indiana in the US. Even though I live just a few miles away from Lake Michigan, we do get a nice breeze that comes off the lake. I hope that you guys stay cool with your crazy hot weather. Dan, I hope that you heal up quickly.

So good to see you both, you’ve been missed ❤️ Can see Dan is feeling a bit better , he’s much chirpier. I envy that rain, my lovely garden is soooo dry, 39 degrees today. Well done Mazzy for taking on the chores. Can you stay there a bit longer ? Don’t worry About the driving Mazzy, you will do fine. People are so kind , we’ve found that too on campsites. Jan and I have stopped using tradition pasta in the motor home, we just add Orzo to our spag bol and use the same pot. Takes about 14 minutes to cook, no extra pots to cook in or wash. Stay well---- Brian

Glad to hear you are improving! I'm not a fan of the heat and humidity in Summer myself. It's interesting that it's getting too hot to grow grapes in some areas of France and the UK seems to be producing a lot more grapes now because of the increase in temperatures.

In my area the high today is 107 f (41.6 c) lol, but in saying that I feel awful for you guys. For us it's not uncommon, but for you it very much is. Not only that here air-conditioning is common place. If I had to deal with this heat without air-conditioning it would be pure misery! Hoping you all get cooler days headed your way.

We had a disastrous ‘holiday’ in New Zealand in a huge Motorhome- when we handed it back it was a big relief so I don’t think we’re ‘vanners’ to be honest. NZ was incredible but we couldn’t relax due to having to move sites all the time- more stressful than we’d imagined. Anyway lessons learnt. We will try a canal boat next, so we’re open minded,

Our British climate and latitude is similar to that of Vancouver’s in British Columbia. And when they hit 105 f with 80% humidity I’m sure they are going to agree it’s bleeding stifling hot.

Just catching up with videos. Dans sat on a walk drinking water lol. I can laugh because after a lifetime of full contact martial arts I have had broken arms (3 occasions) broken ribs, fingers, toes etc etc etc as well as dislocated shoulder and other bits n pieces. He’ll be reet in 6 to 8 weeks. I also managed to continue driving whilst in plaster from above the elbow.
