Cornwall to the Algarve 03/09/2024 Man down, useless sat nav to blame

Today was a bad day for the sat nav and even worse for one of us... dropping the bike in a dead end!
Although the bmw sat nav is mint, it absolutely messed the day up due to it trying to bring us back to waypoints that we had already passed, lesson learned ... eventually.

I’ve got the evotech handlebar quad lock mount for my phone and I can’t fault it. It connects onto where the 4 bolts are that hold your bars in the middle so it’s not stuck up on the side like a normal mount and it just looks like your bike has 2 screens

Nice one, does it have the vibration dampening built into it? I had a quad lock on my old bike and the vibrations damaged the camera 😳

On screen satnav is tricky as you don't have all the visual info you have on a mobile. I only use Google Map nowadays, with Vodafone for example, you can buy either an 8 or 15 days roaming add-on (which for western Europe also includes Switzerland) and you get up to 25GB of data. Considering you only use data for Maps as the rest of the time in hotels/Airbnb you have WiFi, it's quite a lot of data. Pretty sure other providers must do something similar.

Yeah I’m on 3 and I have a 56 day roaming allowance, I’m not sure how many gb is included. My problem was after the first day to the ferry, I transferred the footage from the camera to my phone, it was quite a lot of gb and my phone uploaded it to the cloud using my mobile data…. I didn’t even think about this, it used all of my allowance in one day 😳 That setting will be off for future events 😆

The rule was to only follow one sat nav and we didn't follow our own rules 😂 . We sussed it out in the end, I don't think we ever went wrong on the way back. No tease for next week, so it must be shit 😂

TOP TIP for hot days. We use the water hoses to hose each other off, soak our clothes when the weather gets mega hot, and the breeze one you a riding is great with the water cooling effect. 😁👍🏼
