Great rejoicing marked the coronation of King Mahendra Bir Bikram Shah (b.1920-d.1972) of Nepal, world's only Hindu Kingdom. The King & Queen were crowned at the Nasal Chowk, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Kathmandu on 2nd May 1956.
Various shots of crowds. Blowing trumpets. Beating drums. King and Queen on the throne. Shots of procession of the King and Queen and guests of honour riding on elephants. Band marching.

for those who are curious about the wide aspect ratio, this documentary was shot in three different 35mm film simultaneously and later was stitched and projected in the wide 146 degree screen and hence the black curve cut. If you notice carefully you can clearly see the cuts in 2:03.

@@sjnmhn Shah King and Rana were different . Even in Rana's time there were king but almost 110 yrs of Rana regime was the moment where king was just a puppet and was just for Name as a king . Even king were not allowed to get out of palace without rana's choice . Prince mahendra and his brother couldn't even go school because rana's didn't allowed . So , Shah dynasty is somewhere who made and unified Nepal . They were king holding immense power and strict rules but the more cruel and in-human regime which we listen is of The Rana regime where Rana's were PM holding all powers and king were only for Name
