Those three carol singers, who"ll be my age now, were very lucky to appear on tv accompanied by Violet Carson. She was a noted pianist & singer. She & Tony Warren, creator of Coronation Street, had worked together on children's radio.

I was 8 years old, now 67 years' old tomorrow. I used to love the old black and white Coronation Street

Love these old episodes. I like spotting the errors that had to stay in. Violet Carson forgets her lines at 14:59 and has to be prompted. Thanks for all these great uploads.

@@trsim30Nice catch! I hadn’t noticed that until you pointed it out. Of course in those days it was expensive to do retakes so actors had to ad lib or have somebody call out from the studio floor.

They recovered quite well. Doris was about to ad-lib I think with her next line.

I was born and grew up in Salford. I grew up saying, Hiya, Ta, Tarar. Me instead of My. Then I went to college and university, and learned to say Hello, Thank you, Goodbye. And made a totally meaningless bit of a career. And learned to live in cold, pretentious, pseudo-"posh" loneliness. I wish I could go home. But it isn't there any more.

Watched since first episode as a 10 year old . Want a Time Machine to take me back to the days of these fabulous episodes ! Nowadays Corrie one continuous round of extra marital affairs , boozy sourfaced teenagers and ridiculous storylines! No humour ! Only men and Rita save it. !
