Julie Goodyear as an extra @ 20:18! Many thanks for another brilliant episode.

@@DavidTayloraccessfabyou Always interesting to see a familiar face in the background in a time before they have become the character that will make them a household name.

That is amazing. I spotted her and felt I recognised her but couldn't place her until I read this comment. Bill Tarmey(Jack Duckworth) used to appear as a Rovers extra for quite a while before joining the cast.

Thank you as always, more top drawer acting from Pat 🎉 First class episode. Loved the ending with Ena and Elsie, with at first Ena winding her up.

Yes, it’s great to have Ena back - though im sure within a couple of episodes she’ll be annoying me again! It’s always lovely to see her soft side though - the big smile when she saw Minnie and the big hug she gave her. Also, it clear that for all the fights and harshness she does care about Elsie (something we will see again over the years). I think that’s the reason she was always harsh on her. She cared. I think Elsie was almost another daughter to Ena.

It looks like at about 9:35 that the man arguing with Emily forgot his lines and there was a pause before Emily continued the dialogue. Funny, that would never be allowed to air in modern episodes and would have been reshot. Also amusing to see Emily still referred to as Miss Nugent in the closing credits over 4 years after she joined the cast!

For those of you wondering why Ena Sharples didn't like white flowers its because white flowers were a sign of death

Thankyou for sharing. Its a shame they didnt scene the inquest, but Mrs Maxwells face could have soured milk! Did enjoy this, Mrs Midgley is no Martha Longhurst is she!

@@dannyhardie3495 They did bring in a few old dears throughout the 60s to try and fill the void left by Martha but none of them stuck. You couldn’t replace the irreplaceable after all.

what a horrible father, stupid man. emotionally blackmailing his own daughter. expecting her to look after him, a grown man. ugh.

I think there were many like him back in the day that expected the same from their daughters. They were the boss.

He did. But Ms Nugent fully supported him and continued on with the scene.

See that? Frontcap, no sponsors. The way ITV should have stayed.
