Episode 925
The Turpins return to the street in a police car. Betty (Betty Driver) tells Arthur Walker (Jack Allen) that the Coach driver Reg Ellis died. Minnie (Margot Bryant) is still unconscious with Ena (Violet Carson) refusing to leave her side. Jack (Arthur Leslie) can't sleep due to Stan’s (Bernard Youens) snoring. Discharged, Dickie (Nigel Humphreys), Ken (Bill Roache), Hilda (Jean Alexander), and Annie (Doris Speed) head home by train. Stan worries about his arm and Audrey (Gillian McCann) reassures Dickie of her love for him. Maggie (Irene Sutcliffe) is in a side ward with a fractured pelvis. Elsie (Pat Phoenix) feeling better, dismisses her upcoming court case, making Dot (Joan Francis) feel guilty. Ray (Neville Buswell) has spinal damage and has been taken to an orthopaedic hospital. Annie and Hilda exaggerate their injuries. The doctor (Paul Darrow) tells Ena that Minnie will recover but will stay hospitalized. Stan enjoys his hospital stay. Emily (Eileen Derbyshire) feels guilty but Jack reassures her. Albert's (Jack Howarth) complaints earn him a side room. Elsie begins to suspects Dot of the theft and refuses to postpone her hearing. Minnie finally regains consciousness relieving Ena.

Violet Carson i believe wore three hair nets, because it showed up on the tv camera's (and on our tv screens) better. My late best friend worked with Violet Carson in the 70's, she told me that Violet was one of the nicest, kindest people to work with.

@@londonnodippydolly6635 Violet Carson really was a great lady and a true professional. Very ironic that it was actually Margot Bryant (Minnie Caldwell) who was the cuddly old lady on screen but the sharp battleaxe off screen.

@@kaiserwilhelmi6405 yes Margot Bryant, absolutely correct, the opposite of what she played, Margot Bryant was un married, and had no love of children, and Ena's third best friend Martha Longhurst played by a younger actress (only in her forties) was great friends with Violet Carson in real life, like Violet, Lynne was the opposite to what she played, and to add to that she was in reality a very elegant lady, dark wavy hair, and wore beautiful elegant dresses, she was barely recognisable as the lady who played Martha, for that part she donned a flat hat (that looked like a beret on the tv screen), and those horn rimmed spectacles had no lenses in them, the sad thing is the wonderful trio of best friends was reduced to a sad two when they made that terrible mistake of writing Martha out of the series in 1964, a decision that they openly admitted was the wrong one, so many stories could have still be written for the trio, but with just a duo, those stories were denied.

This happend the yr before i was born so NEVER saw any of these episodes so its a plasure to watch them on here! ...I was born 1970 so grew up with a lot of the cast that came in from the begining and stayed till they either reitered, left the street or passed away so Ihave great memories of the regular cast growing up in the 70s to the 80s (AND TO ME THIS IS CLASSIC CORRY NOT THE STUFF THEY REPEAT FROM THE 90S THESE DAYS ON TV!) such as Annie walker, elise tanner, ena, ken, stan and hilda , betty , ray langton etc! BUT watching this I NEVER KNEW (as obv hadnt seen the episode befor) the doctor in the hospital was played by Paul Darrow who went onto to play Kerr avon in blakes 7! TBH I don't watch corry these days as its gone all sensational with so called BIG epic story lines that drag on like eastenders and all the other soaps now just to get the ratings ...its not the beast it used to be that ACTUALY set out to portrai Northern life in manchester ..i know times change but corry these days dosn't have any characters that became beloved such as (stan and hilda, vera and jack, there are a few but such as roy, fizz etc) but there is no comedic double act charachters anymore realy ..well not on the level of stan and hilda and jack and vera !

I wonder if this story is based on then current affairs as they were when this was filmed in November 1969. As in reality in August 1969, 3 months before this , a coach did actually crash in Country Durham killing 19 people on a bus out of control coming back from a bowls club competition.
