Thank you so much for splicing these together - no ads, shortening the intros and a nice touch of sometimes leaving the credits to roll for longer after sad endings! It's amazing that Baldwin thinks he can bully Alma into coming back to him. Not only does he act like it's a business decision and she's mucking him about but he even resorts to issuing ultimatums. I didn't like that they split up Mike & Alma. They had good chemistry together. The blackmail story was interesting to show that he could be fooled and vulnerable despite his hard front. Let him have the affair and then have the relationship slowly heal. Putting Mike with Linda was just silly. Linda is someone that his character never would have touched in a million years.

Pretty good month - Mike Baldwin becomes a sugar daddy; Steve McDonald becomes a smuggler; Rosie Webster becomes a school bully, and Ashley and Maxine become a second-time-round couple again. Also, Audrey, widow of six months, receives a proposal...she finds easy to resist. And hard-faced toy girl, Linda Sykes, now she has become the boss's bit on the side, immediately starts taking liberties, enjoying her new found power a bit too much.

quite a few characters became parodic in the 90s. i think it's down to ken morley's portrayal of reg. what is becoming more and more noticeable is the over-the-top dialogue. a lot more dialogue is being repeated. scenes are played out and then explained to other characters several times. there's also a developing paucity of dialogue in favour of drama.

The Mike and Alma storyline didn't really make sense. When Mike thought Alma would find out he's been unfaithful, he was beside himself desperately trying to stop this from happening and telling her that she didn't know how much he loved her, etc. Then, when it all came out, and Alma went to stay with Audrey, all his sensitivity vanished and reverted to the harsher, far more cynical persona he had developed.
