when my mother had cancer we talked about a similar situation and it was by far the hardest conversation of my life when we was alone she asked me if I'd end her suffering when she was ready I said no at first then few days later when she begged me i broke down crying and said ok if im honest i didnt care about prison at the time a few hours later she was rushed to hospital as her breathing was getting worse sadly she passed away if I'm honest if she didnt go to hospital at that time i probably would of done it for her, she was my world and the best mother i could of wish for .So Well done billy giving your love one his dying wish x

Is hard watching someone you love who’s in so much pain and you don’t know how to make it better. This storyline makes us fully aware how deadly motor neurone disease really is. To those who’ve lost someone they loved to this disease my deepest sympathies.

As a severely disabled person myself I really don’t like how the entertainment industry portray terminal illnesses and long term severe disabilities. There’s many of these storylines of the person ending their life because they can’t cope with losing control but I can’t think of one that actually shows the person accepting the situation and living their live the best way possible. Another thing that I don’t like is how they fast forward illnesses, in real life it could take years for it to progress. I don’t think it’s helping the disabled community

In Canada there is program (MAID), Medical assistance in dying. This is done by an authorized doctor or nurse practitioner provides. Mt sister in law ha MN it’s truly awful the brain is ok so you are you and aware of everything truly awful. She put herself in hospital Xmas eve and r3fused a stent in her stomach to feed her. It took over a week to pass with little nursing care. You wouldnt see an animal suffer like that. But it’s not only MN many people have to starve themselves to death rather than suffer it takes around 10/14 days to pass its cruel and inhuman. Everybody should be allowed to choose how they go, not men in suits miles away from a bedside. I think coronation street are doing a marvellous job of bringing this to people’s attention. If you did a survey I bet 70/80 %would vote to have a peaceful death at a time of their choosing not to suffer on an overcrowded ward with little staffing or pain relief

It's wrong, very wrong, and this kind of storyline is going to up the level of suicide. People are suffering from so many issues, mental health, loneliness, poverty, and so on. People will misunderstand all this. People will start taking their own lives thinking they are either a burden on others or their life is not important. Suicide is wrong.

@@CC-zw9ku It’s not love - it’s disordered. As the great theologian St Thomas Aquinas put, ‘Love is to wish the good of the other’, then there is no other good than to be closer to our Creator. Assisting in suicide and denying the natural - is grave and immediately shuts us off from God’s Grace and from being close to him. Therefore, we ought to deny ourselves and do what is pleasing to God and let thy will be done, rather than our own feeble will be done. Though it is difficult in this day and age, we know that God’s mercy is ready to be poured out on those who wish to turn their backs on the ways of the world.
