Good work but one small mistake. Vero E6 cell line is not human. It comes from macaques' kidneys. It is missing pieces of genome, making it very sensitive to viruses because it cannot produce type I interferons.

I heard Dr.Offit say this back in the spring, wild that its not talked about more. Hell, even diarrhea/stomach upset is almost equal to fever for covid positive patients based on Oregon Health Associations patient surveys. Shjt everywhere!

Since the summer there have been reports that Kary Mullis - Nobel Prize winner and inventor of the PCR test - should have said that it was not suitable for diagnostic purposes. In August, the fact checkers from Reuters and dpa reported that this was a factual assertion that could not be proven by anything. In October / November a video surfaced with Mullis in which he said exactly that in a discussion group. It goes even further there ... You can use the PCR test "to find almost anything if you want and do it skillfully," says Mullis. If the test were stopped for pregnancy, we would have thousands of pregnant men. Both Reuters and dpa had denied and are still doing so - after all, they are large official press agencies. The video went viral, the self-appointed experts are still not interested. To quote Mullis: "PCR is a process that makes a great deal of something. It doesn't tell you that you're sick. And it doesn't say that the thing you find is causing you harm.

The National Library of Medicine data base references over 277 000 articles for the search words "PCR" and "diagnosis". Either these researchers are idiots, or the PCR is a valid diagnostic tool. The Nobel Prize committee thought it was valid and honored K Mullis for a paper published in 1985 by Saiki, Mullis et al. and describing for the first time the technique. The topic was the diagnosis of sickle cell anemia. As for Mullis, in the preface of the 1994 book "The Polymerase Chain Reaction", he complained that his employer and owner of the patents, the Cetrus Corporation, was not exploiting the PCR's potential for the diagnosis of infectious diseases. Of course you have to do it properly. As in any lab test, you must daily run negative samples to verify the reagents are not providing false positive results.

@@alaindumas1824 I think the key people miss here is nuance. Karry would likely agree that a *single* PCR test is not enuff to diagnose an infectious disease. In a research lab its no issue to retest a sample using 6 or more PCR assay types to be more certainty in their results. For public health& infectious disease control its hella expensive and takes days for a single result. If a virus has a small window of time the infected is contagious then a single pcr as it is now isn't doing much for controlling infections

@@Skunkhunt_42 The PCR is a diagnostic test, which in conjunction with clinical evaluation, will allow a physician to best treat the patient. I agree it is not doing much to control the pandemy. In my experience, it is hard to get tested in the US, results take too long and Ct value is not reported. For public health purposes, the rapid antigen tests promoted by Dr Mina appear to be a better option.

@@alaindumas1824 I 100% agree. I've never had to wait more than 1 day to get a test where I'm at so I've been going for a pcr after my antigen days later. Shame we don't have easy access to rapid tests so we can test at home.

@JM I’m not sure what the issue is with cost and time. Where I’m at in Thailand, results are returned in a few hours and the cost is reasonable (patients don’t pay). It sounds like you’re dealing with a systemic problem, rather than a problem with the PCR techniques
