As I'm sharing this.. I know it may sound a little harsh to some people... But let me share it.. My grandma had liver cirrhosis since two years.. And she passed away in October, 2019. The doctors told that she would not live that long. And we were all a little mentally prepared it. But got very upset when she passed away. But now I feel that it's good that she passed away in that month. Because her immune system was very very weak!! And she was not able to walk by herself too!! And she frequently needed to go to the hospital for regular checkups. And if she was alive, going to the hospital could have been very risky. Because it would not be safe for her as her immunity would've been very weak. So everything happens for a reason.. We may not have all the answers now.. But will get to the answers in the future..

When you realize the real mortality is 0.5% and for every person with symptoms there’s up to 7 without, but let’s lock up for months - A person with respiratory and immune issues
@DeathByCheese7614 жыл бұрын
well, technically we don't even know what the "real" mortality rate is due to so many inconsistencies in global disease surveillance. Additionally, there exists very little research and metrics on the asymptomatic/presymptomatic population as an aggregate. Social distancing, contact tracing, and a robust country-wide testing strategy is our only real chance of mitigating the damage of SARS-CoV-2. - A person whose parent is immunosuppressed and a statistical analysis / infectious disease student! :)
@Otto9104 жыл бұрын
Ah yes, 90.000 casualties and counting WITH lockdown, but you're right. Let's open up. It's not like the number of deaths would be so much higher without it but hey as long as it's just Grandma.
@dutchcourage73124 жыл бұрын
And then you realize the 0.5% number comes from a political organization that had the power to stop this in it's tracks, but didn't ... but even they don't go as far as saying 7 ... they estimate about 4 (so 80% with mild or no symptoms) ... which makes me wonder how they ever got to 0.5% because most countries where you divide the deaths by 5x the infected the deathrate is still higher then 0.5% ... must be that political thing factoring in !

They don't know what "the flu" means. They think "the flu" is when you're pretty sick. You can tell because people say things like "I had a nasty stomach flu." So saying "it isn't like the flu" seems observably untrue to people who don't know what flu actually is.
@kaksakvisagie41314 жыл бұрын
3:52 Yeah, perhaps you want to revise that statement. They have now started doing antibody tests and have found that MANY more people have been infected than originally thought and have had the virus before without even knowing it. That, in turn, means that the actual mortality rate is MUCH lower too. Closer to 0.5% to be exact.

Even if coronavirus was just the flu, over 210,000 have died in 8 months (and that’s just in the United States!). Why wouldn’t any illness that deadly be alarming? That’s the real issue with dismissing coronavirus as the flu
@bee51204 жыл бұрын
It's important to note that the mortality rate can also vary depending on the quality of healthcare that patients receive. Sure COVID-19 may have a 1% to 3% mortality. However, if a country's healthcare infrastructure is subpar or overloaded with too many sick people, that mortality number can rise. We've seen this with Spain having 5% and Italy as high as 11%. This is why it's important for many people to take care not to get infected and sick. Hence social isolation and quarantine.
