Its from a warhammer official show called The Exodite. It started as a fan animation, but they hired the dude making it and put it on Warhammer TV. It's about an Aeldari who is stoking a conflict between humans and Tau by assassinating their political envoys, whilst doing his own personal mission - and the Tau send a squad to capture him to hopefully show they are honest about a ceasefire.

I think the imperium doesn't understand that solid sheets of armor aren't actually good armor, and can even make impacts worse. Modern armor has gaps and subsheets to stop the projectile without transferring its energy into the internals, but the imperium most likely lost that knowledge.

@@oatmealman1586 I could be wrong, but ages ago I read somewhere, that some of the STCs used as a basis for Imperial tanks actually are for hardy modular farming and transport equipment. Which... kinda makes sense from the standpoint that these things were distributed to remote colonies to manufacture all the stuff you could need at the frontier. And since the STCs have some AI in them, I guess they just brainstormed how to put some guns on top of them when they were asked to do so.

In older editions most tanks were immune to infantry fire from the front and sides or even the rear. When I first moved to 8th edition i was pretty annoyed a heavy bolter killed my malcador infurneus from the front, Previously that would not have happened.

I highly recommend a youtube/podcast duo called Isyander and Koda. I'm not really into 40K either, but their lore breakdown is really easy-listening yet engaging for newbies (like myself). Maybe the Tyranid episode is a great place to get started. The planet-stripping is such a fun concept. Can't recommend them highly enough.

Doesn't matter how well you stack up against the IoM, the Necrons are literally you but better in every single way. Also the Eldar effortlessly clap you lot every time you try to fight them, & the Eldar by their own admission are just barely relavent. Also also, the IoM has yet to actually try dealing with the T'au yet, the shear amount of resources & manpower they have (remember, they control some 80% of the galaxy) means that they *will* win a war of attrition if they focus on you, just ask the GOAT Farsight. I say this all as someone who likes the T'au, you lot are not a real threat to anyone, the Swarmhood (not to be confused with the 'Nids) is way more of an issue than you.

Remember when GW made Emperor a bit less Gary Stu (turning him somewhat incompetent, needlessly cruel, and even dowright a-hole on some occasions) and Imperium lovers made vocal tantrum? And the same Imperium lovers also made similar tantrum in the beginning of Tau (noble and kind warriors were "ruining their grimdark", such edgelords and edgeladies), so GW had tu turn them into more sinister faction (and Imperium fanboys are still butthurt that Tau are even with all that still closest thing to good guys, so at least they keep b*tching about them and their fans).

Well unironically, to be honest, sorta yeah? Their guns are damn good. A pulse rifle in lore hits harder than an Astartes bolter. It's probably the most understated/underestimated weapon in all of 40K for how big a deal it is compared to the fanbases dismissive perception of it. A Pulse Blaster (short range "shotgun" equivalent) will blow a Space Marine clean in half if hit with one. If the Tau were having to make do with something more akin to the Lazrifle, they'd have perished long ago.

@@wombatgirl997 To be fair, in the old white box D&D even a level 4 character was only 2 or 3 hits away from death. And in CyberPunk we had "punk with a 9mil syndrome" where any character regardless of how powerful they had become could be taken out with a single shot to the head. =][= does work best with some disposable wounds (cannon fodder) to insulate the real characters. For larger groups (3-5) I would suggest only a pair of additional henchmen and encourage team play tactics. Another option is to start the team on a higher power level, or just give the 'heroes' double the wounds. it does make for action hero esque bullet sponges though. The tone of your game is yours to determine, just make sure everyone is on the same page. Entirely off topic but I have to know: To which does your name refer, The common, norhtern or southern hairy nose?

Cyberpunk is a great system for gritty tactical shootouts. -hitting a target isn't determined by a magical number they generate. if a target is close it's DC10 If a target is at long range its harder. -modifiers are kept simple. most are a simple +/-1 -Armour actually does its job -cover takes the hit for you if it would. By the same token, if you want to shoot through the wall into the guy behind it go ahead. Cyberpunk provides rules of how stuff breaks down while being shot. -your stats really matter, the difference between 8 strength and 9 strength is huge. More than that though the game clearly defines the social system. Skills like wardrobe and style and common sense rulings on your fashion choices make it very hard to wear full body armour every day. Face down rolls simulate the stress of pre-combat measure, or allow a subtle cat fight to occur in the polite talk between frenemies. That being said they technology is hilariously out of date, there are options to receive fax in the field. And if you do get into the real big guns, you will have to decide, rules as written to give your punks some chance. Or real life type destruction, in which case a near miss can wipe your punks off the map. Wombats are really interesting, although they bite, all the time. and they smell. unfortunately the southern hairy nose is critically endangered. I hope this helps.

@@tarektechmarine8209 The Imperium just lost almost literally half it's territory in the lore. It's not remotely got the forces to fight any war that's not absolutely critical. It's basically stuck in a state of desperate survival, and has the least leeway to make offensive actions of any faction in the setting. Their last major action against the Tau, was to exterminatus one of their own Hive Worlds that they lost to the Tau, and then using a rare Mechanicus relic weapon to "ignite" a wide expanse of space, to block and delay the Tau advance. They can't beat the Tau, because they don't have the forces available to fight them with. Simple as that.

@@rivenarchon333 With a roll of a 5, a ST 5 weapon can glance AV 10 vehicles and penetrate on a 6. With a roll of a 6 then could glance AV 11. All tau have is shooting and combined arm tactics. They don't have easy access to krak missiles (hunter missiles needed at least a marker lighter to fire just one off and they were pricey). Fire Warriors need to be able to handle anything that isn't a MBT. All things considered, for most additions they were balanced more or less to everyone else. So no, it wasn't awful. Unless you think just playing Imperium should equal insta win.

@@averhan Well, he is a bi-pedal creature with two arms fitting into a shoulders with a torso that is very similar to human. He is portrayed as having a braincase in a head at the top of his body which points to a central nervous system. But the thing is, they are not considered strong in the meta, physically that is, I mean I took out a whole squad with 8 Storm Guardians last time I played against them. And that hole in his breast plate is at least 10cm long. They could have had him use the uninjured side to shoot.

@@joshwenn989 that depends in my opinion, i red the entire horus heresy except a bunch of fillers and i never get bored, but i know xenos players who got bored really fast. There’s tons of books out there displaying imperium forces get defeated, killed, destroyed and i get that these aren’t the majority but that’s literally it, the Imperium is the overall “protagonist” of the setting and somehow it has to win, people want this and i can’t lie to myself, i want my favourite toys to win, but that doesn’t make them loosing less interesting also considering the fact that yeah these are “toys” but the setting isn’t your star wars family friendly story, this is warhammer and here everyone Dies in cruel ways. I play black templars but my favourite book is Helsreach, a book where black templar forces get literally wiped out at the end of it, i really enjoyed “black legion” series where the chapter first founder dies (sigismund), the duel between Helbrecht and The stormlord is fantastic because it shows that there are some beings out there who can absolutely destroy Individuals like chapter masters and the fact that being a space marine hero doesn’t make you “the best of the best in everything”, Helbrecht is probably the greatest naval commander the imperium ever had outside primarchs and a bunch of few, but he’s a terrible duelist and he’s better at strategy than fighting.
