I will probably stick with Garmin when my 645 dies, but since you asked, of these two I wouldn't pay the extra for the pro. I have thinner wrists and the larger watches are too chunky on me. I'd tolerate that if I were an ultra athlete or doing full Ironman training and racing, and thus needed the battery life associated with the bigger units, but I'm not.

I think that Garmin watches, Coros, etc, are currently betting on winning over their audience through branding/marketing and not through their metrics. Garmin is very confusing and is always releasing new models which doesn't seem very polite to its customers (ex: Fénix 7 x Saphire Solar vs Enduro date release). What distinguishes the Coros from Garmin, its main rival, in my opinion, is the battery, GPS accuracy (I've never had a watch like the Apex 46mm in this regard) and quality of materials/price (Garmin abuses plastics). In the past I have praised Garmin. At the moment I only have Coros watches - Reliability, Quality of construction.

I like Coros watches. I'd say GPS accuracy is a bit better on Garmin if we're comparing their modern devices. Coros always seems amazing when it comes to battery life. It's great that there are all of these different options. Helps keep KZbin reviewers busy. 😂

Nice video Matt, and great to see you running on the trails again! I hope your recovery is going very well. Coros has cursed themselves with the Pace2 is such a great value that I can’t see myself upgrading and paying 2x even though there are some nice new features. I really wish that Coros would integrate more wellness features, too. But maybe they’re doing a HRV daily reading like Garmin does on both their FR and Venu lines.

Lovely products, but agree with you, the regular should have the same GPS specs as the pro. They always offered a good set of features at a low price. It is hard to see that mighty Garmin offers on the 255 and coros doesn't on a more expensive product. It used to be the other way around. But well good quality products nevertheless. Yeah, I agree. Coros makes fantastic watches. They tend to have extremely long battery life. I can understand being underwhelmed a bit by this one. The data accuracy was a bit off more frequently than I'd expect during my testing and competition is really strong these days. Hope all is going well for you guys!

Hey matt nice review as usual and love your cinematic shot...just want to ask which would you recommend between the apex 2 and the fr255?

I’d say it’d come down to if you really really need maps. The 255 has pretty good navigation but no maps. The Apex 2 has maps but there isn’t street names on the maps. The Apex 2 would have a longer battery life as well. Personally, I’d go for the 255 non music to save money. I really like the morning report. Great review! How is the brightness versus previous Coros watches? And does it still take 300 min of running time to activate EvoLabs?

I didn’t test running for 300 minutes. I got maybe 2.5 hours total before posting this. I assume that the 300 minute requirement still exists. Brightness seems similar to other Coros watches. It has great contrast but it’s hard when you’ve got the Ultra on the other arm.

That's a good question. The GPS on the 945LTE is excellent. I never compared these two head to head but I'd guess the 945LTE would come out on top. But that's just a guess. Thanks Ryan!

Hello! Would you go for Coros Apex 2 Pro or Garmin Fenix 6x Pro Sapphire? Im a trail runner/climber and would like more tecs like nfc and spotify but my main focus is a strong sport watch

Hi Vitor! Personally, I think I'd go with the Fenix 6X Pro Sapphire. The 6X is a large watch so that might be good or bad depending on what you like. There might be some holiday deal coming up over the next week or two.

@@mlegrand I prefer small minimalist waches and the fenix lineup never caught my attencion but still I dont think its that much bigger then the Apex 2 Pro. I love coros waches but this time I think they went underwhelmed. Will wait for a holiday deal in the next weeks but its already cheaper. Anyways, thanks for the vídeo and your personal opinions!

I am a bit confused when reviews say Coros 2 is titanium cased, they advertise it's titanium bezel and I see plastic case around, what I am missing? Edit: Coros also should stop doing battery claims instead improve the GPS and HR accuracy with more polls like others. I tried Pace 2 and claims made by Coros and all the reviewers were completely off sadly, while I appreciated the tech they packed in Pace 2 though. Edit: You said exactly what I thought, apex 2 like 299 USD and Pro 2 like 399 USD would have been reasonable, ( why they removed ANT+ tech 😢) .

You’re right about the bezel. The bezel is titanium and the back of the watch is titanium. I should have made that more clear in this video. Thanks for posting this clarification and for the feedback on the Pace 2. 👌

@@rsii83 - Here’s an older comparison: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJ-1o56LqM6lY68 But the Garmin Enduro 2 came out about 2 months ago and it’s improved a good bit. (Review coming soon) That Coros Vertix 2 is about 700 and this new Enduro 2 is about 1100. I would say that the Garmin has a larger number of features. The Vertix has a bit longer battery life. The other good one to look at would be the Garmin Fenix 7.
