I was racking my brain on how I could have a student watch a 30min video from one of my favorite KZbinrs, and still be able to set up an interview in 50min. I'll just have them watch this twice and go to work. Thanks for not wasting time on talking about what expensive equipment you're using that we can't afford. Solid video!!!

At 0:22-I shot that interview. Cam A was a C200 with Canon zoom 16-35mm 2.8 and Cam B was a Sony. I can’t remember which because I narrowed it from a friend. The SLR magic 50mm was on there I think. I wouldn’t recommend the Sony setup.

Thanks for the suggestion, Adrienne. I essentially did this video to show a client how to get youtube traffic with no subs. But I may pick up doing these again. excellent video !! .... covers almost everything ! ... just 1 quick question ... where should you place the camera? ... at shoulder level? ... or slightly above? ... or slightly below?
@DavidDanielPierce11 ай бұрын
That depends on the effect that you're going for. And we could get DEEP into depth stylistic-wise, but I won't. For safety, you may want to place the camera at eye-level. That's essentially the standard. A slightly lower angle will give the speaker more of a subconscious powerful and authoritative feel. I tend to do this for MALE-CEO-types. But it comes at the cost of them looking their best, as dark circles and the double chin is more noticeable (which is why I'll lean towards a lower angle for men because they don't give a shit how they look and a powerful feel is more valuable than attractiveness). Although, I have gotten some guys who are particularly worried about how they look on camera, and some women who do not. A little higher angle has the opposite effect. It's a bit more flattering looks-wise, but not as subconsciously powerful. More of something I tend to use when I can tell the subject only cares about how they look on camera, like someone who sells beauty products.

Other than the 'farting trumpet' soundtrack, you've got some solid advice there. A couple of additions I would have included is makeup...or at the least 'shine-control'. A bit of matte powder on the t-zone goes a long way to making a subject look good. LED lights might not make them sweat anymore, but they're still in the 'hot seat'. The second caveat is, find the quietest room over the pretty but noisier one. Bad audio ruins the best visuals. Cheers mate!

(I should have done a lav, but wasn't really sure where to place it, etc., so I copped out and went with the shotty. Oops.)
@DavidDanielPierce4 жыл бұрын
Good idea. Audio is one of those things we don't really care enough about so we'll let it go. I think boom is the way to go on interviews, but depends on the situation. Not totally sure of what you were working with in that situation but it sounds like you could use some acoustic blankets.
