It is blessed to keep and teach the Commandments of God, and may you be blessed to do so! However, remember Moses also told them to carve pomegranates and angels, etc for the Temple and ark of the covenant, yet this was not idolatry. Moses also carved a serpent and when the people viewed it, they were healed. Again carved images are not forbidden and even used in the Holy of Holies and healing. Asking people, holy people, just people to pray for us is not a sin as Saint James tells us that the prayers of a just man avails much. And when Jesus was suffering on the cross, he cried out "Eloi, Eloi..." and the crowd thought He was calling to Elijah and they waited to see if Elijah would answer Him. The saints, like Elijah, are not dead, they are FULLY alive and interceding for us as shown in the book of Revelation. They are a cloud of witnesses seeing and hearing us (Hebrews 11-12:3).
