Hey friend. I think roughnecks is just oil field workers but I could be wrong. I didn't officially Google it. Let's see… Roughnecks weren't always brutes - the term comes from Texas and used to just refer to a “rugged individual.” Then it was a word for someone who worked on an oil rig. But now a roughneck is someone, usually a big man, who's tough, crude, and ready to fight. Roughnecks are the opposite of mild-mannered people.

Excellent choice of ride... I've always been fascinated with the original construction of the harbor bridge...and the new one.. Looking at old pictures of them building it. Once it's gone...it'll be forgotten...so the drive over is an excellent choice. Great job!

Hey, Dennis. Well, that's a part of Corpus I never saw before. Reminds me of the Elizabeth NJ area, which is also the site of major oil refineries. Good evening! The harbor bridge is so cool. It’s pretty dang tall, but the ships that go under it are, too. Cool drive back through the refineries. Poor critter in the road ☹️ The most famous person from Corpus is Whataburger. 🙃 but seriously, a fair number of folks for a fairly little coastal town back in the day. Gosh this was interesting as was not aware of that many refineries down there. Up my way they have them in Pasadena and Galena Park area. I've been around where the Houston Ship channel is as back in the 70's I adventured this whole area real well. Sure has changed a lot. Also we have the Texas monument of which is taller than the one in Washington DC. Farrah also owned a fancy house in Houston I believe somewhere. Thanks as enjoyed this.

Good afternoon Dennis!!! Very informative drive, I guess secirity does not appreciate anyone filming the refineries. Im sure you can get quite a show near the bus station, its always interesting around ours. Shoot there was this fella doing a whole routine at the donut stop we go to the other day. He had several signs, very well done, with reasons for not being able to work and he had a routine with 2 leather bags filled with rocks on rope and that was fun. And if you ignored him he just threw stuff everywhere, I just pray for them, they are do broken. Thank you for the tour, its still snowing here, very pretty

Well, if he's showing up with all that much stuff, that must be his job. He needs to get on KZbin. I hope you're well friend. You can legally film anything as long as you remain in a public area like a street. If you can see it with the naked eye you can film it.

Very nice. That is where the loaded ships coming through Port Aransas take the crude oil and where the empty ships go to load up with refined products to to where they are needed. Without these refineries and the petroleum products they refine there would be no computes, cell phones, cars, and a 1000 other things people use every day. Good stuff Dennis.

I was one time at the ship channel just on the inside of the Harbor bridge, and I was filming and a security guy came up and said that you are only allowed to film ships that are about to approach the bridge but not once they're inside the bridge or further up the river. I did not understand that one at all as I was on a public area and there were no signs at the time saying you are not allowed to film or take pictures on the inside part of that channel...go figure, huh?
