@@sandro7799 le volevo dire che su un ducumentario sulla Tebaldi ( la donna l' artista il mito) ho visto dello stesso concerto le ultime battute di " in quelle trine morbide " e il video era di ottima qualità proprio qualche giorno fa.... Mi si riaccendono le speranze .... Chissà poi quanto é seppellito negli archivi delle varie televisioni ....da adolescente ( sono passati un bel po di anni) vidi una selezione di Aida fatta per la Rai appunto dalla Tebaldi nel 1960 ma da quell' unica visione ( non avevo ancora la possibilità di video registrare ) non seppi più nulla sulla sorte di quel filmato....

The Callas Tebaldi rivalry was a way to promote the burgeoning 33 1/3 rpm international record industry. Their repertoire barely overlapped and they were 2 very different types of sopranos. The down side was that other fabulous sopranos like Mancini, Gavazzi, Tucci, Stella, Zieani , Cerquetti and even Olivero were mostly ignored and all this coincides with the evolution of the so called generic international style that is the norm today.

Cetra records produced almost all of the standard Italian repertoire with mostly Italian casts in idiomatic performances I N THE 50'S & 60'S All of thesewere reissued on Cd . Look for them! They featured many of the aforementioned lesser known singers.

There is so much here that is ASTOUNDING. The way singing is going I doubt we will ever hear again such Italianate phrasing and beauty of sound. She is a true Spinto, for sure. But, she could always make the most wretched sounds on top. I have listened to her off and on for years trying to figure out why no coach could have told her how to fix some things! I realize she was trained in a time when little was known or acknowledged about science in singing. I could fix her problems in an hour UNLESS there was some underlying fear or nervousness or hearing problem that hurt her performances. The way she approached vowels is fantastic. The natural tone is spectacular. I do notice a lot of lifting at the shoulder area; is this because her shoulders were simply very large? She does seem to take low breathes, and take them correctly; perhaps the "lift' I see is merely a secondary reaction TO her low breath and large shoulders? But, that implies tension, and tension is the primary issue keeping her from maintaining that luscious sound all the way up. And THANK YOU, TEBALDI for STANDING there and putting out sound and drama as an opera singer should! Today...WTF? Sopranos jumping on sofas at the Met while TRYING to sing the Sempre Libera?!! They do not last long, and they look like fools- gullible fools who actually listen to ridiculous directors. Operatic acting is NOT Broadway acting. Opera is not the "musical"; it is far, far beyond that small but often wonderful genre. Opera directors should be hanged ASAP! You're welcome.

@@sandro7799 I listen to R.Tebaldi sing and I hear a divine gift of voice and a "love of music" that she gives to her audience. Her voice is a reflection of a kind spirit. A mean person can never project a beautiful song because ultimately the notes will produce fatigue. The minds ear will detect the missing love and reveal the difference. Renata loved her audience and loved her music, so for me there is just pure enjoyment listening to her. And seeing her gracious little smiles between pauses is very endearing too. I am thankful for this remarkable video of R.T. 💖

If you had knowledge you didnt comment like this because Callas was better than Tebaldi technically and had much better expression. Whatever, tebaldi was a great star and had the titel assoluta for 10 years, callas have it to this days! To talk about two ladies who are both unique in their way of acting and singing is not very wise...both, fans of Callas and fans of Tebaldi should not fight about personal taste or subjektive opinions! Trovo che la facilità o difficoltà di un'aria sia un fatto molto relativo e soggettivo e che l'estensione non sia certo l'unico parametro determinante (e dal tuo giudizio presumo per te lo sia dato che effettivamente arriva solo a un la bemolle). Non la metto assolutamente sulla questione callassiani/tebaldiani perché io per primo adoro la Callas ma stimo tantissimo anche l'arte della Tebaldi e liquidare questa bellissima esecuzione, dove l'unica pecca effettivamente è l'acuto finale non tanto calante quanto corto come tenuta, con un commento del genere mi pare un tantino riduttivo e poco rispettoso di quella che è stata oggettivamente una delle voci più belle della storia della lirica.
