The best way to use saffron ! What I’ve learnt is that when you lightly toast the saffron, it releases the best flavour & it can be ground to make a powder & then you can add just water or Ice. Saw this Ice method on Hermann‘s page & found it to be interesting though the results with cold water or just water were the same to me.

U just need to keep ur saffron in the fridge in the air tight container then u don’t need to roast it just take it out and crush it and either put ice or hot water both gives same result .. we do this for ages in Iran ..

i come from Afghanistan-Iran Afghanistan produces a high percentage of saffron But iran produces almost 90% of the world's finest saffron and its really affordable here and iranians and afghans use it on daily basis from beverages to dishes But believe me when i tell you in some parts of iran finding bombay biryani masala can be more expensive than saffron😂
