Correcting Infrared Pixels | Tech Talk

Non-Uniformity Correction is the process of adjusting the camera's measurements to match known standards, changes and impact of environmental conditions can affect camera's accuracy because of ambient temperature, humidity, and other factors.
Stan Voynick of Sierra-Olympia showcases the science and elements needed to provide infrared sensors with matching pixels for target intensity and pixel response.
Infrared sensors are made from exotic materials using advanced processing techniques each individual detector in the sensor has its own characteristic in the way it responds to incoming infrared light. Each detector, you might say, has its own personality compared with those around it. How we create a good-looking IR image out of that, is a non-uniformity correction or what we call a NUC.
