Those trails are amazing. Don't be afraid to mess with the settings while you ride, put another click or two into it to see how it feels, then you can just click it back. It will help you better feel what a bouncy fork or overly stiff one feels like so you'll recognize it. Usually you'll just find something you like and leave it, but some trails might look for a stiffer setting, and some might look for softer. Some folks lock the top control when climbing and open (soften) it when going down. It doesn't have to be complicated, but you can mess with those things on the trail without doing anything that needs tools to fix.

Deciding between the Specialized Comp Expert 29 (all black) and the Roscoe 9. Don't really dig the sand/olive colour on the Roscoe 9. Wish in came in the crimson that is available in Europe. The high engagement hubs are a big bonus on climbs and obstacles.

The key to Betasso is parking at the Link trailhead, climbing that and catching it when both trails are running clockwise. You'll get the most/best flowy downhill. Add in the connector to the 4 mile canyon trailhead and it's super fun. Descending Betasso link is one of the more challenging descents in our area.

I live near Rome Italy and it should be just perfect for most of the trails around here. I’m 176cm and got the size M/L. they had a Roscoe 7 in store and it felt much better compared to the size L, which might be a better choice on a full sus, but on a hardtail I think I’m good with this one. Man that's a nice trail! I wish we had some of those around here. I'm about to upgrade the fork on my Rockhopper Elite 29.. it came with a 100mm Judy. I have a Silver 35 R leftover from when I upgraded my Turbo Levo, so I'm going to change its travel down to 100-120mm and see how it is. The Rockhopper has a much steeper head angle than your Roscoe... your Roscoe is much closer to my Turbo Levo's setup. BTW, you are a way better rider than I am!

Hey Matty, quite interested that your running 100PSI in your fork at your stated 185Lb weight. Not that I have ridden a 36 (got the 34 Rythym on my EX8), but as I out weight you by over 100Lb, I'm amazed your running the weight so high (I run 90Lb and 3 volume spacers on my For 34, and I've not bottomed it out on my local nana trails at all - before the volume spacers were added, the fork had around 110PSI in it. - Of note, a bigger internal like you get on the 36 should mean you can run lighter pressure than say the 34 for the same 'feel/performance'). Have you tried downloading the tuning manual from Fox's website, it's a great place to start when setting up a fork, and you'd odds on be better off listening to the experts rather than us weekend warriors! ;)

Hi Matty.......the video is great. Not shaky at all. Your camera must have good stabilization on it Question about the Roscoe 9 vs the Roscoe 7. ( latest 2022-23 models ) I believe you have ridden both. Do you feel the 7 is way undergunned with the 32 mm stanchion front forks vs the 36 on the 9 ? Any noticeable difference in the function of the brakes ? I think those are the two biggest differences between the two. Would a person have regrets buying the 7 after riding it or is it just fine for a first time mountain biker ? I am currently a road rider and thinking of dabbling into mountain biking at the age of 66. Retirement is great ! Thanks, I enjoy your channel.
@MattyActive2 жыл бұрын
I think the Roscoe 7 is a great bike, between the two it all comes down to what kind of trails you’ll be riding. You said you thinking of dabbling into mountain biking so I’m guessing you’re a beginner. If that’s the case I would say go with the Roscoe 7 because it’s great value and quality specs. I don’t think you would be riding really bumpy trails as a beginner so you won’t notice the difference as much between the two bikes. But if you think you’ll learn fast and do more difficult stuff in the immediate future I would go with the Roscoe 9
@Toastedyogurt2 жыл бұрын
I just got the Roscoe 7 and I think it's perfect. The brakes really aren't bad, I think when people get used to the 4 piston breaks they go back and think it's terrible. But it works fine for me. Might even be better for a beginner because less chance of locking up your wheels and skidding.

Matty - can you ride the Roscoe long distances without being fatigued or uncomfortable? As compared to the Marlin . I own a '21 Marlin 7 and its very comfortable for long rides as a normal bike. I'm thinking hard about the Roscoe 9 as my only bike but I'm concerned it's not suitable for daily rides. I appreciate your response.
@MattyActive2 жыл бұрын
I’ve been really comfortable on short and long rides with the Roscoe 9. I would say if you want it to be more efficient for a daily ride, go with some less knobby tires and it’ll be great. The stock tires are really grippy and would definitely slow you down for long rides and as a daily rider
