@dashiellgillingham45795 жыл бұрын
That’d be hilarious, but end badly. A lot more work goes into infrastructure than people think it does. It accounts for almost half of all taxes in the US alone, between inspectors, surveyors, beurocratic work to figure out exactly what was built where and when, a small mountain of (extremely necessary) safety regulations and equipment costs for all of the above, on top of the stuff you see like the mechanics, plumbers and concrete. If you skimp on it, or leave it in the hands of people who only know parts of what’s necessary, important things start collapsing a few years down the line. The only thing with more funding in the US is the entirety of the largest and most expensive military on earth, which says something. This video left me with the impression that they didn’t try to get the city to come fix it, which they probably would’ve at some point over the next few days if they’d called it in and filed everything correctly, if my personal experience with city governments in Southern California is any indication. Then again, I lived in the hills, not the Angelopolis proper, where I imagine they have bigger problems on a regular basis.

@@dashiellgillingham4579 I think the real issue is that when government tries to accomplish something they just throw money at it until it goes away or they ignore it. Hiring private companies is always a better bet than trusting the city/state/feds to hire competent workers who can innovate. Why would they? Government employees can have a very healthy income and retirement by doing the bare minimum
@dashiellgillingham45795 жыл бұрын
+Ethan Porter That’s... umm... exactly how it works most of the time? Private companies get money thrown at them to fix problems the city hears about. It’s very rare for the city to directly employ people, at least in this state. Now, the state and the federal government, that’s a different story, but on the city level it’s usually highly territorial private companies doing things like this. I’m not 100% on it working that way everywhere, but that’s what I’ve seen. (Edit) Actually; this video provides evidence for what I’m talking about; one of them dressed up like a union rep. Government labor does not have union reps. You get the paycheck they tell you you’ve earned at that’s the end of it.

That's just how bureaucracy often works, if an individual files a complaint through a specific department, for whatever reason if that department is not deemed liable to fix it they will often just clear the ticket rather than forward it to the correct department. Saves them the hastle of dealing with it. They often say "you contacted the wrong department" or some bs, and just leave it at that. @jjbarajas53415 жыл бұрын
That's unfortunate. In my city potholes are filled pretty fast. They never stay for more than a few weeks at most. Try spray painting obscenities over them to try and force the city to deal with it? I think someone in the UK sprayed penises on the road. Illegal, but... Well, who can blame them?

Also la doesn’t trim city trees until they are a hazard. So if you want them to do it, the trick is renting a U haul, tying a chain around a big branch and flooring it. They will be out there within a few days.

It was also REALLY bad in my street and after living in my home for over 15 years, they finally fixed it. It was even more dangerous since a lot of children played around and the roads were not safe at all. My brother had an incident of where he fell into a small hole in the road and he fell of his bike head first and ended up having to get staples in his head. I really hope no one else has to be in the same situation and everyone please look where you’re walking.
