This is actually rubbish, if you ask for a female officer specifically especially when to do with this subject they always sort that out. I went through this at 16 I had a male and female police officer come round to the house, they asked me if I wanted to speak to just the female which I did.
@spencerreid2086
@spencerreid2086 Жыл бұрын
may I ask why is that? why do victims of assault feel more comfortable talking to female officers in these cases? just curious.
@AnabananaBeauty
@AnabananaBeauty Жыл бұрын
@@spencerreid2086 For me at that time the person who has assaulted me was a man, id lived a life where most of the people i was close to were all females, males had always been unreliable and untrustworthy so I just felt safer and more comfortable. I imagine its different for each person but its just much more comfortable especially for a female to report assault to another woman.
@jenjones90
@jenjones90 Жыл бұрын
You were 16. Amy is an adult. When I went though something similar in my 20s I got a male officer for the initial report and had to wait 2 months for a female officer to be available for the ABE interview. The male officer here was just taking the initial report, which will just be basic details so it won't matter if the person is male or female. What is rubbish is the idea that within a few hours she made a report, was interviewed, and Aaron was arrested. Also, I'm really sorry you went through something like this, especially at 16 😢
@jenjones90
@jenjones90 Жыл бұрын
@@spencerreid2086 they ask very detailed questions in the ABE interview and some women will feel uncomfortable speaking to a man about that. But the truth is, the case progression is largely based on how sympathetic the officer is towards the victim (shouldn't be, but it usually is). The type of women who join the police force don't tend to be very sympathetic towards other women, so in many cases it's actually better to speak to a male officer, as there's a higher likelihood of them being a decent person. You would get a better outcome by speaking to a male officer for e.g. in his 50s who might have a young daughter, than a female officer in her 20s. Ultimately any decision are made by the DS or DC but the opinion of the interviewing officer counts for a lot.
@AnabananaBeauty
@AnabananaBeauty Жыл бұрын
@@jenjones90 Im sorry to you also you went through something like this, no one should ever have to. Im really sorry you had to speak to a male officer, I think thats wrong! It should be an option, not just if your really young, because its such an ordeal in itself whatever can make it more comfortable should be in place x

The camera in those rooms aren’t that close or noticeable. Have to say. It’s heartbreaking. 3% of cases of this nature go to crown court and only 1% get a conviction. We need to do more to protect women. First of all by teaching men we don’t owe them anything and our clothing is NOT an invitation.

I only dislike them choosing Aaron as he's just off a child/domestic abuse storyline and then is written to be a rapist (The actor is doing a good job so do see why they'd give him the material) just unfortunate that the other childhood abuse survivor Paul was slightly villainised for his cruelty to Aaron (knowing his situation and you think would've been empathetic) at the start, provoking him into hitting Paul then making him the bad guy that's not good enough for Summer.
