For anyone having a hard time with Taro, there is a rock towards the left that you can jump on, once you do he won't be able to attack you and you can just use arrows to kill. As soon as the fight start head to the left you will see a rock you will have to jump on some bushes to make your way up there once you do, taro won't hit you Hope this helps

Just started my Master Difficulty tonight and his grab attack and combo at the start of phase 2 have been giving me such issues and I never properly learned how to deal with them on Expert. Thanks for your help! ^_^

I didn’t know about the lantern, the fact that I could use the rot more than once, nor thought of double jumping over his grab, instead I always hugged his behind to force him to go melee! Interesting to see it could have been much easier, need to look out for these golden targets on bosses more often I guess xD I wanted to see what others did on Master vs his non swipe attacks tbh Amazing fight!

Use the Rott attack on his shoulder but don’t burst the bubble. Just do heavy attacks directly after you sent the Rott to his shoulder. That’s what helped me to defeat him.

I'm playing this a year later. He does not go for the 2 grabs directly after 50%. Which I don't mind. But at around 25%, he gets a red aura, gains 25% HP, and goes into an enraged state. Damn, I'm not ready for master difficulty stuff.

This fight is so hard. I'm having such a difficult time. Your videos have been immensely helpful, but I just cannot seem to defeat Corrupt Taro. It's very frustrating.

He is a handful. My advice is look at the one thing he's getting you with the most, then study how I'm avoiding that in the video, and then make it your goal just to be able to do that. Usually there's one or two things that make a boss frustrating, and once you nail those you end up beating them easily. Good luck!

I found a glitch while fighting with him, and it might help you if you are struggling on Master difficulty. Let him grab you near the barrier that is surrounding boss fight area - he will throw you out of the barrier, but the fight won't end. He will start jumping on the barrier, allowing you to keep shooting him from the bow.

I finally beat him! Don't worry about trying to parry like he did. I kept my distance mostly and dodged to avoid getting hit. If you just block you may get lucky and parry but it's not worth going out of the way trying to.

Take practice. Also, use a wired controller. I find wireless is more hit and miss with Kena parries.

The combat, parry, and boss battles in this game is some of the biggest loads of bull shit I’ve ever seen.

It wouldn't be so bad if everything worked like it should. The camera has a mind of its own, targetting and locking on is really buggy, parrying is almost impossible to time properly from one fight to the next, and the dodge roll picks a direction at random even if you're aiming in a specific direction that usually results in colliding directly with the enemy's weapon. Even basic attacks inexplicably miss sometimes even though you're right in an enemy's face. It's very frustrating. I love a good challenge, but it needs to be a fair challenge. Having to contend with poor design and unstable mechanics isn't a fair challenge. I'm definitely glad I didn't buy this game.

I'll admit, the Master+ seems to have updated the combat. There is now a PHASE 3! I can't seem to figure out the trick, yet. Some time in phase 2, not sure of the trigger, Taro explodes and catches fire. He has a new jump attack where he spams the arena with fireballs. I beat him the first time around on hard, now on master... it's not easy. Getting the pattern from folks like FuzzyBararian made it a matter of practice, now I'm a bit mystified. I have tried to hold off triggering the rot on his shoulder weak point, as it can be used to stun him ... just let the little blighters bother him until he is stunned. I can only take 3 hits at this difficulty, so it's hard to have enough up time to find the pattern on P3... Suggestion?

I got pretty lucky on this boss but I was able to beat this boss on my first try. I used the bow alot just like you did and being very patient of when to attack helps a ton lol. Otherwise he is very difficult to beat.

wow this looks so calm, easy and good... I died at least 15 times i guess... I´ve never thought of shooting the arrows in the air to use the slow motion... or that his exposed weak spot can be triggered with the pulse too T_T So I was really struggeling trying to hit the lantern or his shoulder with an arrow while he is in movement :D

Same. I try to line up a slow motion arrow shot when he runs at you for the grab attack, but every time i wind up an arrow only to have nothing fire. I know I have arrows, but in my panic I must be letting go of L2 instead of R2. Sure enough no arrow is fired, I get grabbed, and die. Mind you I am playing on NORMAL. This game is the most difficult NORMAL mode I have ever played. I even gave in and went down to story mode to get past this fight, but I felt cheap for doing it, so I reloaded an old NORMAL save file and played my way back to this fight. 😅

@@CERBERUS0420 Cool and yep, I wish I'd known about the double jump myself when I did this the first time on expert mode, as it was the grab move on my first playthrough that was the most trouble for me in this fight. Someone in the comments on my expert vid told me about it and first time I tried to do it I realized he'd never get me with the grab move again 😁

@@sapphic_sleeper Don't despair, a lot of people find this boss fight extremely difficult. My advice is take it one step at a time - literally. Find the one thing he keeps getting you with the most, and check my vid to see how I avoid that, then practice trying to avoid just that one thing (without worrying about beating him). Usually there's one or two major sticking points in a boss fight and once you are good with avoiding them, the rest might just fall into place. And if not, there's only ever one or two more to learn to avoid before the rest become easy thanks to the practice of getting good at those one or two things. Also, after 40+ attempts, I can guarantee when you beat him you'll probably scream out in happiness it'll be such a good feeling. 😉

Nah mate, this is master. Nothing has changed about Corrupt Taro at all since release, with the exception that patch 1.16 fixed a bug. Patch 2.0 introduced slight modifications to bosses in NG+ a year after this video was made to make them 'slightly' more challenging and a bit more aggressive. You might be in NG+ is my guess. But NG and NG+ movesets are the same either way, so if you can no damage in NG, you can no damage in NG+ without changing a thing. I just make master look easy in this video because I never get hit. That's because I've no hit run this game many, many times and know it like the back of my hand...
