I like to think that the other Jasper that Jasper got in Gem Hunt was a Biggs Jasper, for a few reasons: 1. The only gem that I could find that had a similar pattern was a Biggs Jasper. 2. I like the idea of Biggs, the gem that Bismuth mentioned in her episode, being one of the corrupted gems we've seen.

It's a pencil sketch of someone who has big lips, but you don't know if the character would be blue or something since colored concrete does exist... I know this is probably stupid but I think when the gems were hit with the corruption light, they were aware what was going on around them. Over time though, they started to lose their sanity and became the wild creatures that they are now. But a few were able to work around their new forms and were able to communicate to the same type of gem that they are. I think my theory is crazy but it's still is a possibility lol😂😅 (Again, still thinks PD is lion 🤣😝😜)

She was also confirmed to be a Quartz And since she is superior to the other Amethysts/Jaspers, she has that kite-shaped gem on her head. Maybe the kite shape resembles superiority or power. Interesting video and something I had wondered when I first saw Gem Hunt. I lean towards, at least the Great North quartzes, being former CGs for a several reasons. Firstly, the fact that they didn't attack Pearl NOR Steven is telling; we've seen that gems are able to sense one another, so maybe they were able to 'sense' the two. There's also the fact that, by all evidence, our Pearl seems to have been the ONLY pearl involved in fighting; that may explain why they avoided attacking the trio. Second, Jasper's line at the end of the episode - "hey Rose. Look what I've got". If these were HW gems, why would Jasper care to gloat about having them? Unless they were some super soldier like herself (which again, we've been told she was the ONLY perfect quartz that emerged, period - and that includes Rose, Amethyst, and Steven). No, at that point, Jasper was trying to get a rise out of 'Rose' because she happened to have captured two former CGs. As for bubbling, I think everyone is missing the point of that. Yes, the gems want to try and help them if possible and obviously the best way would be to have them all in one location, but it's most likely for a far more obvious reason. Humanity. Remember them? By Pearl's account, by the time the war was in effective and a few hundred years later, humans weren't so well spread around, so a corrupted gem hanging out in the woods could stay there, under cover, at least until someone MIGHT stumble on them. However, seeing as the show is set in modern times, any and MOST cities would be effected by corrupted gems. Look at the damage they can cause to Beach City, a population of like 15 people. Now imagine a corrupted gem stumbling on the shores of Empire City. I seriously doubt there's any other option other bubbling, especially if it means protecting all humans. I mean, that IS the whole mission of the Crystal Gems, correct? Allowing corrupted gems to just run about is counter productive to their own mission statement.

Sadly, I'm just seeing these replies, so thought I would respond. I have a theory on corruption itself, but I do think somewhere in the future Steven will be able to cure it or lessen it to the point where a gem can be, maybe not a hundred percent, but maybe about 80%. The show's been leading us to the fact that while Steven does have some of Rose's powers, he's able to stretch them further than she did, which I believe is to set Steven apart from Rose (seeing as everyone and their own mothers seem to just want Rose 2.0 and not Steven). This isn't to say that I think Steven is going to broker peace between Earth and HW - that's unrealistic - but I do think he'll get a truce of some sort that helps free those gems that want to be free, but doesn't completely disrupt Hw's society.

I imagine the corrupted Quartz's have become a sort of pack, and the two from gem hunt being the leaders. they talk to each other, and have their own tactics to avoid the crystal gems so they don't get hurt anymore. i assume they'll be in a sort of jungle or forest, maybe even underwater where they feel safe. they could even be in a new kindergarten, living like wolves. whats your thoughts on them becoming a pack of corrupted Quartz's?

With the exception of a few stragglers like Centipeetle and her crew, practically all Corrupted Gem monsters were Crystal Gems, being supposedly the only non-poofed/bubbled Gems left on Earth after the Diamonds ordered a hasty final evacuation. Because Jasper thought that "Rose" would recognize them by their gemstones, it's certain that the two monsters she poofed in Gem Hunt were high-ranking Crystal Gems close to Rose Quartz; one of them is likely the "Biggs" Jasper mentioned by Bismuth. I consider the mental effect of corruption to that of zombies, in that in fiction at least a few victims seem to have more mental awareness/less mental disability than the rest. Centipeetle had enough awareness to recognize Steven as a friend who was worthy to protect, and to alter her appearance to be less frightening. Until near the end of that episode, Centipeetle in Monster Reunion was practically fully restored mentally, she just had severe physical problems in communicating with Steven. "Ocean Jasper" became hostile IMO not so much because Connie began to unsheathe the sword, but because this was Rose Quartz's well-known weapon, now being used by an unknown creature who had no obvious right to have it, and so was an "enemy" (especially if OJ thought that Connie was a Gem and not a human).

Jaspers are chalcedony quartz, but amethysts are not. I feel like that is the difference between the hexagonal gem shape and the hexagonal circular gem shape.

Corruption is like overheating in a gem. Think of the gem itself as a computer; once the interior overheats, or the gem overthinks and begins to go crazy, something inside the gem is broken and the intended form that it used to have begins to create errors, thus making a corrupted gem. Though the mind and intentions once formed remain, the creatures are unable to communicate with other gems. That's what happened to jasper. As you saw, she began to turn corrupted and have the same pattern as the corrupted gem she fused with. In my theory that has nothing to do with the already existing corrupt; it used to be a jasper just like the one we know as amethyst's former nemesis. Jasper's obsession with how her diamond died and how what she thought was rose was just sitting there, beating her as a fusion, she overloaded and became corrupted. This could be a clue to one of the episodes coming in season 5, as we've seen that pearl is still very obsessed with rose and how she can protect her son. Say if steven were to be hurt or did something risky enough she may become corrupt.

I mean, Garnet did mention that they bubble those gems to keep them out of harm - caused by others or themselves. And a corrupted gem going ballistic could potentially hurt itself a lot, so having it bubbled would keep it safe.

I think at one point Pearl says something along the lines of, "As long as they're in bubbles, they can't suffer." So, it seems like there's a implication that corrupted gems are always experiencing pain. Centipeedle seemed to be in a lot of pain both times she reformed, and then again when she started to relapse, but once her form was stable, she seemed to be fine. So it could be that the Crystal Gems just assume the corrupted gems are in constant pain. It's very likely Pearl, Rose, and Garnet personally witnessed the corruption as it happened to nearby gems, and it was horrific, traumatizing, and something they probably never want to talk about ever again. Those gems probably looked like they were being tortured and the body horror Rose, Pearl, and Garnet were witnessing would've been beyond belief and deeply scarring. So, basically what I'm saying is that the Crystal Gems believe all of these gems are in constant pain. Steven explicitly says this during "The Kindergarten Kid," but he doesn't really know the truth or untruth of that statement. Considering his response to the cluster, if corrupted gems were suffering, he'd probably feel it too, but he doesn't. It seems more like once the corrupted gems decide on a form and are able to stabilize that form, the pain lessens significantly if not stopping entirely.

I've always liked the similarity between jasper quarts soldiers during the war, and the Germans during WW2. In a loosing conflict that started of with professional soldiers with high moral and education, that then needed to be replaced. But because of lack of time, resources and the simple fact that so many where already dead, they had to resort to recruiting and drafting soldiers that would otherwise be deemed unfit for war(children, elderly, physically unable). thrown into combat with minimal training, low moral and little ammunition and guns. Just imagine being a jasper; disfigured because of a rushed birthing process, physically hindered, and then instantly being thrown into a war with impossible odds, just to be abandoned and corrupted...

I thought that Steven was more accepting to the corrupted gems because he doesn't know so much about them as the other crystal gems might know. It seems like nearly any time in the show that they have come across a corrupted gem, Steven is always willing to accept them, while Garnet, Amethyst or Pearl would want to go after them and essentially poof them. I don't know about you but I don't think poofing a gem and saving the redeption for later is a solid method... although Steven could try to talk to all the bubbled gems in the bubbled gem storage unit, like he did with the cluster. Just a thought.

I love the details in the different jaspers. I worked in a jewelry store for years, in which we had drawers upon drawers of different gemstones used to make jewelry. My favorite was the two drawers of jasper. I'm a fan of the ocean and kambaba jaspers, myself.

So you know how the crewniverse likes to make "real life" connection,. similar to how Lapis is a reference to abusive relationships and Padparadscha is a reference to learning disorders? I think the same is true for corrupted gems. Everyone keeps telling Steven that they are thoughtless, wild, animals, much like people do in real life. However, like in real life, these "animals" have language, feelings, plans, culture, and other, more advanced, thought processes. Unfortunately this means that they more than likely know that they are corrupted, which would be an even greater punishment; a type of torture I assume most other animals do not have to deal with.

The rocky looking corrupted jasper is Biggs Jasper in looks. Biggs is one of the original crystal gems mistakenly heard as Bix like Bixbite. Same with Crazylace or heard as crazy legs

A good theory overall but in the corruption song all the gems saw was the shine and if you look and pay attention you can see that the corrupted gems freak out when they see a shine in the episode when centipedle was in the cave it saw a shine and freaked out and so did the corrupted gems when they saw Connie's sword shine,so I feel like the gems can be calmed but if they come to exposure to shining lights like the corruption song they will freak out cause keep in mind they can still feel as if they were normal gems but the corruption song is the last thing they saw before they got corrupted and what makes them freak out,that personally my favorite theory I've made any way if any of you all are still here thanks for reading this 😁.

Following from my comment on your other video about the diamonds, it could also be that these corrupted gems' behavior is indicative of unimpaired social cognition (i.e. tied into empathy and related to ability to work together towards a common goal, caring about each other) as Pink did not participate in the corruption, and trauma from White (i.e. fearfulness and anxiety as a symptom of PTSD).

Nice analysis. I had always assumed the irregularities in the corrupted gems' gemstones was due to the corruption, but you're right, Jasper's gem didn't take on any of those irregularities. I wonder if some gems retain more or less of their sapience depending upon type, or perhaps its more individual? Also, I think the Crystal Gems would be open to letting some corrupted gems run free if they weren't hurting anyone. They let Centipedle and her crew go unbubbled after all.

This made me think of how the crystal gems did once, to my knowledge, not detain a gem through bubbling. While Centipeetle was originally bubbled, circumstances lead to the gems to simply contain her with her crew on their ship in the episode "Monster Reunion." Maybe the gems could contain the quartz gems together so they can have companionship like Centipeetle does and eliminate risk of anything frightening the corrupted gems into attacking. By the way, I love you too!

Although it could be wrong, I've seen a post pointing out that these two corrupted Quartz gems were the gems Biggs Quartz and Snowflake Quartz. For anyone who doesn't remember, Bismuth mentioned both Snowflake and Biggs as she asked where the other crystal gems were. So it's quite possible that these two knew each other previously, because of the rebellion.

It makes sense that corrupted gems of the same type would be able to communicate with each other like animals of the same species It makes more sense since when Peridot tried to capture a corrupted gem for the first time she mimicked its behavior and that made it more calm around her

Do u remember when bismuth mentioned some of the old crystal gems when she was first introduced? She mentioned Biggs, snowflake, and crazy lace. Biggs is a jasper, snowflake is obsidian, and crazy lace is an agate. People figured out that crazy lace and Biggs r the gems here look up the gems

I think that the original source of corruption did alter the gems themselves, due to the strange appearances of many corrupted gems gems, and because we see cencentipeetles gems change when Steven tries to heal her, but second hand corruption leaves the gems physically intact

okay, what if since the corruption to jasper just happened, maybe it didn't take affect to her gem? she wasn't corrupted long enough for her gem to take on the effect of being corrupted. (hints that the corrupted gems we have seen have been on earth long enough after the war that their gems have been tainted by the corruption). Also, do you remember how our pearl could use her gem to make hollow pearls and as a projection? maybe to un-corrupt gems, Steven could use pearl for help when un-corrupting allies from during the war and other gems that may be of use later in future episodes/seasons. (which means they could take a look at what that gem looked like way back then) (which brings me to the point you made in a different episode, Centipeedle couldn't be healed all the way because she didn't remember how she looked). Correct me if i'm wrong, but maybe steven Can and will un-corrupt gems by doing so in my explanation. and to further my point; Jasper and Bismuth are going to be brought back as stated by Rebecca Sugar which means Steven is going to help jasper in case she is still corrupted when she reforms and maybe have bismuth watch what happens when he heals Jasper. that way she can be redeemed and help out in a greater way than just making weapons and battling homeworld.

Papa Slice, Papa Slice! I have a question, or rather the idea I want you to take a consideration of! In the episode you were taking about, with Steven and Connie chasing corrupted gems, Steven took a photo of Jasper holding two quartzes in her hands. It was very peculiar, yet we never seen any use of this photo later on. Do you have any cool theory about what use will it have in the future? I'm looking forward for you talking about it! Also, I have to confess that I'm a sucker for anything Jasper-related, and you are the only one who are giving her some justice. Also I just have to tell you your talks and theories are just the highest quality, and you have such a sweet attitude, man... I'm sending you lots and lots of love!

I think corrupted gems are a more crude version of the gem, as in, all gems we see have their gem in a circular form, as if it were polished, even gems like peridot don't have rough edges, but the corrupted ones have a rough edge to it, so whatever caused them to become corrupted has somehow made them into a crude version, as real gems found in nature irl, so that's why they take more animal-like forms.

btw... what my friend also told me... when a gem gets corrupted their gemstone (sometimes) got a diffrent placement. we can see it on centipeetle. her corrupted form has the gem in the mouth and her normal form ..well. the gemstone is her eye. curz... I dont belive that all the corrupted gems had their gem on the chest.

Actually, all those other gems were bubbled as far as I'm aware. Garnet (or was it Pearl?) stated such at the start of the episode "The Kindergarten Kid" (the episode where Peridot plays Wille Coyote to a gem monster's Road Runner).

I'd like to note that Jasper was only corrupted for an extremely short amount of time, so we don't really know for sure how much a gem changes due to corruption. I think a gem will change greatly when corrupted, but only if given time. If this turns out to be true, there may actually be multiple corruption events in earths history. So gems like The Slinker and the Lighthouse gem may have been corrupted for a very short period of time, while gems like the Worm Monster (whose gem has practically no symmetry, unlike every other uncorrupted gem we've seen) may have been corrupted for a much longer period of time.

Is it possible that the reason some of these creatures have been bubbled is that maybe they were a part of Roses army and the ones that have been held the longest are there due to roses shame or embarrassment? This would be the same as Home worlds mentality but if that's all that rose has known then is it a possibility? Love the videos. Keep it up!

The corrupted gems in these episodes are the same ones that Bismuth listed in her first episodes, Crazy Lace (or Ocean Jasper) and Biggs (Biggs Jasper).
