Many years ago, my friend made a complaint against a TT of taking bribe to the railway vigilance. The vigilance office made a copy of the letter and gave it to the accused with his address on it. The TT straight came to his house, gave him the money back, and asked him to withdraw the complaint. my friend was lucky the TT was a simple man. But imagine if he was a criminal.

This procedure has become the routine for all the general passengers and thus causing the way to earn extra for these type of corrupted TTE's and making us fool for booking a reserved ticket... So at least some one should react, not someone, every reserved passengers should react to such incidents because it's our right to do so and teach these TTE's a lesson.

I think we must know some rules and regulations about the train,,, you can google it... A person with general ticket can travel in a reserved coach only if he ask the TTE to upgrade the ticket, a TTE can upgrade a General ticket and allow a person to sit in a reserved coach by paying rs 250 + charges upto your destination. After this a TTE gives out a recipt to a person who is upgrading his ticket... Then only a person with a general ticket can travel in a reserved coach...

This thing cannot be seen at all in Tamilnadu and Kerala. But may happen in Andhra, Telangana and Karnataka. U cannot see such a scene in Southern Railway Zone. If anybody boards reserved coach without ticket, he will be kicked out of the coach along with a hefty fine in Tamilnadu. Andhra people are also very corrupt. Shame on them for being in South India

This is so common in India.. it's the fault of passengers paying the TTE.. they have general ticket n knows it's a reserved coach. It's duty of other passengers who has genuine reservation tickets to stop ppl from paying the TTE n shud ask them to leave. Some of the TTE I've met are good specially the ones from south India. When I was traveling alone with waiting AC ticket the TTE helped me without taking money. So, stop this nonsense..

If there were vacant seats in the pune-mumbai sector in that train, the TTE was doing nothing wrong. If a general ticket holder enters a coach and there are vacant seats available, the tte is duty bound to allot the vacant seats to passengers with general tickets on payment of fare difference.

+Prakhar Vaish Actually they are suppose to go to general compartments in train. But many people do not prefer to go there because of many reasons (like its unhygienic conditions, overcrowded, etc). Moreover its easy to pay some money to TTE and sit comfortably in reserved compartments in train. Some people does not even know that its against rule. It causes so much discomfort in all of the trains. You can see people sitting at whatever little space they can find in reserved compartments (even on the steps and next to the toilets ). Its our Gov duty to increase more general compartments in such cases. But the TTE are happy to get extra income from this, So they never report such cases to gov. Though everybody knows this, no body in gov mind to take action. I twitted to our Railways Minister but there was no reply for that. :( I believe there are much scope for introducing digitizing in TTEs work and ticket status updating.

If everyone is following rules, then no one would be corrupted. Is anyone going to penalise people sitting inside reserved compartments. The TTE would have fined giving a receipt also, Im guessing then no one will blame common citizen for breaking the law. So here is the TTE wrong because he used the money (as extra income)?? Dont you also think the citizens should be criticised also for breaking the law? Let me remind you something my friend - person who is breaking the law is guilty. In the above case, everyone is guilty. I will even go to the extent saying the person who is seeing the crime is also guilty because he didnt do anything about it when the crime was happening. Law says person who gives bribe and who receives bribe-both are guilty. Now let me also remind you that not all TTEs are taking bribes, so if these people who are sitting fearless here above would have come across someone who is honest, these people would have been in Jail. Especially these guys broke the law first by sitting in a compartment where they are not authorized to and then TTE. I dont know why people blame govt for corruption when everyone has to follow the law. I would like to add little information. You can get a platform ticket and can board the train. Later u can ask TTE to reserve for you any available seat(available 99% of times). Passenger has to pay charges of the seat from the station he boarded+Penalty(200-500).

When I get on the train it was nearly 11 at night the first thing I saw so many people with general ticket there was a young man on my seat I told him to leave the seat but he reused I showed my ticket to him despite that he refused. how such kind of people get on the reservation compartment with general ticket.

Train Ticket book చేసినపుడు Rly Dept. వారు W/L నంబరు ఇచ్చుచున్నారు. w/L ప్రయాణికుడు తను Book చేసుకున్న station నుండి standing లో వుంటాడు, seat వుండదు, ముందువచ్చుచున్న ఏ station నుండి seat conform అవుతుందో అతని mobile కు ఎటువంటి message రాదు. దీనిని ఆసరాగ తీసుకొని Rly T.T W/L ప్రయాణికుని నుండి Rs.500/- నుండి Rs.1000/- రూపాయల వరకు వసూలు చేసి సొమ్ము చేసుకుంటున్నాడు, డబ్బులు ఇచ్చిన వారికి మాత్రమే T.T, seat ఇచ్చుచున్నాడు. Railway ఇంజనీరింగు ఉద్యోగులు పగలనక రాత్రనక కష్ఠపడి Track ను సరిదిద్ది ప్రయాణికులను వారి గమ్యస్థానాలను చేర్చుచున్నారు. సూటు, బూటు వేసుకొని T.T లు ప్రయాణికులను నిలువుదోపిడి చేస్తున్నారు. W/L ప్రయాణికునికి ముందువచ్చుచున్న, ఏ station నుండి seat conform అవుతుందో అతని mobile కు message వస్తే T.T ల ఈ నిలువు దోపిడిని అరికట్టవచ్చు.

Its regular practice. The legal fine is expensive. Daily travellers of Mumbai-Pune cant afford to the legal fine. Its better to make adjustments by giving 20-40rs. no one wants to travel free of cost. but just want to sit in a place for 3 hrs. They are having tickets let them fill the empty spaces in the train than over crowding the general boggies.

The larger issue is demand supply mismatch. If enough seats are available, all will buy a reserved tickets, which is not the case. So people have to employ such means. Solution to this is long term, in the medium and short term use technology to distribute seats efficiently in real time. There is bribery because the TTE has discretionary powers to allocate vacant seats during the journey, that's why he carries a paper booklet. make allocation automated. this won't completely address shortage issue, but is easily doable in short term and can give some relief. Also, attach more coaches. We in reserved seats would also need to understand there is shortage and some unpopular and inefficient methods like bribe may become prevalent, we need to focus on big ticket corruption, if the systems need to be changed.

Even I filed same type of Complaint against TT on portal I am shocked top officer also protect the Corrupt TT and lecturing on false complaint & ask me for proof . (((((Reply from respective officer: Sir, it is a general ethical practice to accuse anyone if there happen a room for a slight wrongdoing. A false complaint not only makes the Railway administration occupied to a sizeable duration but, it also provide irritation to the staff. There were only two Ticket Examiners deployed in train no. 11039 Dn (Kolhapur/Gondia Maharashtra Express) of dated 21.3.2018 who manned six Sleeper Class coaches namely S/1+S/2+S/3 and S/5+S/6+S/7. The rest coaches remained unmanned including S/8 in which you have undertaken a journey yesterday from Bhusawal to Badnera. The Ticket Examiner who was deployed in S/5+S/6+S/7 did not venture into S/8. It is found that he had issued total five receipts in-between Bhusawal to Nagpur and generated a Railway revenue of Rs. 1170/-. It is further found that a passenger holding a general ticket from Bhusawal to Nandura was issued a receipt for a shortest travel of 79 Km or an hour’s journey. This proves a clean intention of the staff. Moreover, Railway has its own anti-corruption or anti-graft agencies to negate any chance of such types of irregularities. If you have any video clip or audio recording of the Ticket Examiner, you are requested to send it to this office so to initiate action against the concerned staff.)))))

Everyone is shitting out in comment box without proper knowledge. A person with general ticket can sit in reserved compartment also. He has to pay an amount to TTE which includes fine charges for getting in sleeper class with general ticket and difference of the amount between general and reserved ticket. After this, if there is seat available TTE will allot you the seat. Or else you have to stand and travel in sleeper.

2011 I was travelling in india. I tried to purchase a first class rail ticket from Bangalore to Hubli, night travel, and the computer showed all sold. Nothing unusual. Most Govt officials in India are corrupt - that includes TTE and Khaki uniformed cops. Last are the worst . They even man roads and take money from drivers for stupidest reasons. Uber drivers are their newest victims - not wearing black trouser white shirt or carrying yellow badge on license pay Rs 500 underhand or 2000 legally as fine. Both these are outdated rules

Video is exploring good and nice idea but there are only three to four general coaches and travellers are 10-20 times greater than the total seats in all General Coaches the matter is not only about hygiene but excessive guys in a coach leads to much problem U can visualize this in Secunderbad-Danapur exp Darbhanga-LTT RajendraNagar-LTT CSTM-Patna Allahabad-Howarh NDLS-Puri There are many such exmpls

First of all the mistake is of passenger also they took tickets of general coach and sitting in reservation coach if it's emergency they should go to TTE ask for the ticket and pay according to the sleeper class 2. The mistake is of TTE also he is suppose to ask for the fine nor bribe passengers like this also lead to corruption IF ANYONE IS ASKING FOR BRIBE STOOD UP AND FIGHT AGAINST IT.
