Thanks for making this tutorial. I've got 35mm lowering springs to go on my 1.8 Tigra B, but I'm a rookie, so your video is a big help. I've got the same Hornet exhaust as you, the thing sounds real nice.

Nice video, one thing to note when removing the rear spring is to jack it up and remove the bolt for the shock, then lower it gently. it can be danderous with that flying down

very useful - I have to do front and rear (replacement not lowered) on my sons 19 year old Corsa so this was perfect - many thanks... I have had a strut fail on me, shooting the broken top mount right across the drive! had that been pointing towards me.....yikes.

aaargghh I HATE those types of spring compressors...I recommend you ask a shop to borrow their wall mounted setup next time. so much safer mate. glad it worked out for you tho and glad to see the videos rolling out again. I'm a manager for a large automotive company in the US and your videos are usually an excellent explanation on the DIY side of things as you usually do things the right way, spring compressors aside lol :). keep it up!
@TheSavageGarage8 жыл бұрын
RytheGeneral Yea I would always recommend taking the strut assembly to a garage to get them done properly and safely, but for the purpose of the video doing it in the driveway is what I'm about so it felt right! lol Thanks for watching and for the kind words!

Good to see you're back! I'm quiet lucky, I only found these videos not too long ago, so not much waiting for me! Getting a Corsa SXI 2005 1.4, should be fun to get tinkering with it... There's a couple things wrong that I'd love to see if you could possibly make videos demonstrating how to do. A common problem are the windows get jammed, care to show us how to dismantle the door to get access to the electric window components on the driver side? Before getting the car, it was flooded by a leaky footwell, so I will also be replacing the interior as it got riddled in mold, any good advice before stripping the interior? Thanks, and excellent work, really good instructional videos, with plenty of detail!

Its impossible not to feel like that! when you see all that tension and the force required to compress it! while compressing you see the metal sort of bending a little. All and all it went ok for me but the feeling is something else!! Worst than the nerves of checking if a repair you did fixed an issue or not xD

You forgot to mention to check the alignment and also when loosening the rear shock absorber is like to use a jack stand under the rear axle to support and slowly lower when removing the bolt.

When undoing the strut top nut you should hold the damper rod still and move the nut, this prevents any damage to the nice damper surface and the seals. But good vid doing my car soon too.

Given it a lot of thought after seeing this video a while ago and seriously considering lowering my corsa. What's the car like now after a few months of driving round? Is it awkward over speed bumps? Your set up is how I was wanting to do it with the sri alloys and lowering springs but I have a lot of speed bumps in my area and feel it would be a pain. Look forward to seeing more videos, you doing the crankshaft sensor next?
@TheSavageGarage7 жыл бұрын
I live in a highly populated speedbump area, you do have to slow down a little more than normal but 30mm really isnt that much of a drop. Car turns way better though on the corners! And with the sri's sits beautifully!

Do u really need to remove the wheel when doing the rear end ? Also, when doing the rear end, I think the lower shock bolt needs to be torqued at exactly the height where the vehicle is seated otherwise the lower shock bushing will be prestressed.
