PCV is positive crankcase ventilation not pressure control valve.

Yep there is another EVAP Purge PCV that controls pressure\vacuum dealing with fuel tank vapour - your point is semantics with the Rocker Cover Vent Valve name - It vents fumes be it via vacuum or small pressure back to inlet manifold what activates it; vacuum at the top or pressure at the base or both I will leave to the design engineers at Opel/Vauxhall to slug out. The point of the video was to give an overview of why it's there, what function it has and the effects of a defective 'valve' - Your point is, however, very valid, thanks

Thanks for this helpful video. I have a question please. If I change the pcv valve will it solve the problem. Or do I have to buy a whole new cover? Thanks

The rocker cover PCV is a common problem, as I said in the video I would change the whole rocker cover it's difficult to just replace the rocker cover PCV correctly it's a false economy. You can see one leaking on my 1 min video on leak testing; kzbin.info/www/bejne/eIvRn4SZfK6cl8U . eBay and Amazon sell rocker covers quite cheaply. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0BL3H651G/ref=sspa_dk_detail_0?psc=1&pd_rd_i=B0BL3H651G&pd_rd_w=eNREK&content-id=amzn1.sym.46187d6a-4306-4bc6-830c-7b2085e0e39f&pf_rd_p=46187d6a-4306-4bc6-830c-7b2085e0e39f&pf_rd_r=9TFXY7E04ZT13N1X6MCA&pd_rd_wg=6Ub8s&pd_rd_r=fd144634-bc52-4b57-aa79-8212cfe0d007&s=automotive&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWw

Thanks for the video, I wonder if you can help me. @0:54 what are those two slotted holes called what would be between the dip stick and oil filler cap? I changed my rocker cover and notice a lot of buildup in those holes. I want to hopefully clean them but can't until I know what to google. Thanks again for the video bud 👍

The slotted holes are basically the vent holes from lower crankcase taking fumes up to the rocker cover passing via these holes in the cylinder head, if there is a lot of oily gunge in these slots it's probably thick old oil from lack of previous servicing. You may want to flush the engine i.e. run the car until it's hot then drain the oil and put in fresh oil. It's a tad expensive but worth a go. If it's done a lot of miles 80k plus then consider taking the sump off and clean it out, no gasket is needed just silicone sealant. removing the sump isn't a difficult job.

I did a video on this engine recently, it's probably one of the worst designed engines ever. That pcv failing is the secondary failure the cause is often the value in the inlet manifold having failed first. Search meriva b oil leak 1.4.
