@@JeromeLouvet it's strange - service light came on saying camshaft position sensor so I replaced it. Car does run better, but service light still comes on. I changed gasket just recent but the whooshing noise appeard, so I assume the old gasket (which leaked badly) was releasing the pressure. Anyway will get stuck in tommorow. Thankyou again

Hi, Love the video. I have Opel Corsa OPC 1.6 (A16LER). My PVC valve is 100% gone as it does make a sucking noise. But my car is also leaking oil what seems to come from the Rocker cover gasket. I have been driving like this for a couple of months now, and the oil leak seems to get worse. My question is: if I replace the Rocker cover, will this be the end of my oil leak? Thank you so much. Hi Joe, It was the same problem for me. My wife drives this car and she told me about the noise some weeks, perhaps months ;-) , after it starts. I have changed the cover. The over came with 2 gaskets. First I put the thinner one but I had a little leakage from the cover. I put the bigger one. No more leakage from the cover but I have a little one on the left side (very few) perhaps the camshaft gasket. As I will give the car to change the timing belt+water pump to the workshop, I will tell them to have a look.

Hello Sam, I am sorry but I only know my engine. I don't know this 2,8L engine. In the case of my engine, they sell some valve membrane and you have to heat the case where the membran is. Than you replace it and finally you have to glue the case again... it is not a a very reliable repair. It is better to change the complete cover. It cost only about 35$. I don't know for you engine but if the cover is in metal, I supose the valve is in anothrr place or perhaps you have the possibility to repair it using a more reliable solution. Cheers ;-)

Hola Elvis, si te he entendido bien, quieres limpiar el motor con gasolina. No te aconsejo hacer esto. Puedes dañar partes. Existen productos que se hechan dentro del aceite y dejas el motor encendido 10mn antes de hacer el cambio de aceite. Mira mi video sobre el cambio de aceite ;-)

Hi Linda, in my opinion the best and easier is to replace the cover (the valve is mounted inside the cover). Some people open the cover with a heat-gun, change only the valve and then glue it, but I do not recommend it. Normally the new cover comes with 2 gasket. I recommend you to put the thickest one. I hope the repair will be successful ! ;-)

If its the little valve in the middle of the small black pipe that you are talking about? Between the outlet and inlet manifold? Looks like a flying saucer. Yes it will need replacing. It is a one way valve that stops boost pressure going back to the engine and will make the pcv fail again if not changed. You should only be able to blow through it one way in the direction of the arrow.

I bough it new and Düring 15 years I had problems with the rocker cover, with a spark-plug cool and with both rear electric window mechanism. I think it is not bad. The only bad think was then Paint. Si solo cambias la valvula hay que despegar el sitio donde está alojada con un calentador y luego volver a pegarlo con cola... una chapuza ;-) Mejor cambiarlo entero. Existen tapas que no son originales (la que tengo es de ese tipo) y valen parfectamente. Un saludo ;-)

Hello, If the PCV valve is working correctly, it should be easy to retire the oil cap and not a big change on the idle should be heard. Hello, the problem was a lost of power and noisy engine. The valve was broken (very common problem on this motor). To know if have this problem just open the sparkplugs cover and listen if there is some air entering in the hole. You can also try to remove the oil cap, it should be easy. You can put the english (or french or spanish) subtitles on the video so you will have all the explanations.

Hello Tomaz, thank you ;-) Yes these two problems are related. This is because of the pressure since the valve does not work. They sell some valves alone but what is the quality? They can sell you any piece of rubber... To replace only the valve, you have to heat the case where the valve is, change the valve and then glue the case again again. I don´t recommand that. A new complete cover with gasket is only about 35$ It is a very important part for the engine. If you change only the valve, you will work more and you will loose fiability, to save very few money. Does it worth? I dont think so ;-)

@@tomazzz22 You are welcome ;-) After you changed the cover if you see you still have a little leakage you can check on the left side where the timing belt is because sometimes there is a leakage from the camshaft SPI gasket (little round gasket). Hi Gustav, did you repñace the complete cover? or did you repair only the valve? Repairing is not the most recomended. If you changed the complete cover, perhaps it was defective. I don't see any reason to break the calve so fastly. There is not a lot of pressure inside, just hot oil. Perhaps you xan search on Internet for possible causes. Cheers 😉

It wont always blow or suck air it depends on if the check valve is stuck open or closed .Rough idle ,oily spark plugs,low power,you can even get a camshaft sensor warning .pull the dipstick and if engine idles better .........

Hi, if the PCV valve is blocked the pressure inside the engine is higher and some oil can pass through the gasket. But many thongs cam cause smoke so I can't tell you for sure. You should not wsit to exchange the cover. You could also have some leaks from the camshaft gasket. Cheers! ;-)

Hi, a little vacum is OK. When I had the problem, I was not even able to open the oil cap. What you have to test is if there is suction in the hole, as I did at the begining of the video. Cheers! ;-)

Pero de todas formas si la valvula PCV está mal no hay que tardar en cambiarla porque te puede crear fugar de aceite en la parte superior del motor, por la presion que no se libera. Hola Freddy, gracias. Voy a contestarte en Español ;-) Tienes que cambiar la tapa completa porque contiene la válvula PCV que es la que falla. Se podría cambiar solo la válvula pero no lo aconsejo porque hay que calentar la parte donde está alojada para desmontarla. Luego hay que volver a pegar todo y no quedará igual de sellado. La tapa suele llegar con una o dos juntas. Si hay 2, pon la mas gruesa. Al final es importante apretar con el par correcto (8Nm) y en el orden correcto, porque es lo que da un buen sellado. Que vaya bien! un saludo ;-)

Hello, sometimes the air enter by the cover gasket. If the noise changed or disapears when you open the oil cap, it is certainly a problem with the PCV valve like in my video. Cheers ;-)

​@@JeromeLouvet For me it does not look like PCV boss. That hissing sound is somewhere under throttle body. Valve cover gasket isn't that deep. I was suggested by someone with same problem and he said, problem was in his throttle body, one of servo motor gear in it was without one tooth.

Hi, the original General Motor cover costs about 130£ on ebay. Non original part ist about 50£. For a non profesionnal it takes about 30 minutes to change it and it is easy to do. There is no need to change the bolts. If you decide to do it yourself, the cover normally comes with 2 gaskets. You have to use the bigger one. Cheers.

@@NERI-SHKEMBI Hi Neri ;-) P0300 to P0304 indicate missfire on every cylinders. First you should check the gap of the sparkplugs (should be 0,9mm). It could be a problem with the coil packs. I don´t know in your country but in most of European countries there is a protection for the buyers, you have 14 days to send back somethnig you order online. You can order a coil packs on ebay and if it not the problem you can send it back. You will be refund and perhaps just pay the return. I could also be a problem with CKP and CMP sensors but you should have a DTC P0341 or P0342. The same here, you can order both sensors and send it back if the problem is not solved. P0420 indicates a problem with the catalytic converter but it is certainly a consequence of the missfire problem. You shloud also check the colling liquid temperature sensor. You can do it with a basic OBD2 scanner. With the engine cold it should indicates the outdoor temperature +/- 3 degrees. Then ou can start the engine and check the temperature is increasing constantly until the fan starts. The missfire problem can damage you catalytic converter! Your alternator is OK, this is totally normal to have less voltage with the motor in idle. Good luck! and please keep us informed here ;-)

Hi Jamie, it is quite difficult to read you because you don´t put any point in your sentences :-) It seems you have different problems on your car. First, you schould change the cover as fast as possible or you will have some gasket problems and some oil leakages. Then you will see the rest of the problems ;-)

My Astra 2005 high oil consumption was down to a leaking oil filler cap. A new one on eBay was £2.5. Also seal on dipstick was sucking in air. Sealed with ptfe tape.
