I love my 4000D Airflow in white, its a beauty!!! Its quite large though, so makes me feel like I need something bigger than an B550M motherboard. I can see myself keeping this case for a long time.

Awesome review as always, TTL! I think maybe the CPU cooler is a big part of the problem. I think an AIO mounted on top would likely remedy the issue. Makes me think reviewers should separate traditional CPU coolers and AIOs when it comes to case testing.

It's like a combination of all their cases plus the NZXT H510 and the airflow doesn't come with RGB fans, so you don't have to feel bad about replacing them with others. It just feels like a very, its just awesome to see that they have listened and learned. I didn't know that you could switch the front panels that's cool.

fantastic review, really appreciate these in depth cooling scenarios. I just bought this case and will be experimenting with an arctic p14 in the front. I wonder if the GPU design makes a big difference, you have a reference blower which is fairly uncommon today. Maybe someday when you have time try out the flow-through reference RTX 3000 series design or your standard triple fan GPU.

A bit late to the party but I think it might need some fan curve shaping, I had that odd experience once where I had to run lower rpm at the top and more at the bottom to feed the GPU since some wonky eddies seem to pull the air out the exhaust fan first. I agree with the fans at the top as a potential option too. Rest well and thanks for the in depth review.

Great case review! I might have found a decent looking and good performance case for my future build. But I do have a question... how easy can you fit a 240mm aio in the top? Because I know some issues with other Corsair cases and aios in the top. Especially bigger aios like an arctic liquid freezer 240mm (I will probably buy this one).

you're creating a positive pressure condition under the gpu (main reason psu shrouds suck) with the additional fan. i wouldn't own the solid front one but the airflow would probably perform awesome with the gpu if you had 3 fans in the front with one in the back and the HD cage removed from the bottom so that bottom fan can feed the gpu through the mesh psu shroud.

I was thinking the same thing. Would be interesting to test out adding a fan below the GPU and through the expansion bays. It's weird to visualize, but yeah, you could be effectively stalling the GPU fans out if there isn't a clear exit path below. Curious how the 30X reference series would behave in this situation as well with the inversed fan setup. May be the reason they did it that way if this is common.

Amazing and in depth case review! Did you measure the motherboard temps I didn't see it or perhaps I missed it? I have an H115i 280mm rad so I guess you would recommend mounting it under the top and keeping the one fan up front so the GPU stays cooler?

Even if this was 2hrs long, I would see it no doubt from start to finish. Thank you for your in depth review! Not too keen on Corsair cases (i personally prefer Phanteks, Fractal Design, Lian Li or even BeQuiet), but the Airflow one may be one of the few Corsair cases that gets my attention.

OC3D TV That’s great. Never get rid of it:) The first build I did in it was with the Maximus 6 then 7 Formula, Matrix 780ti and the ROG Front Base. Before that was the 750D. All things I bought because of watching your channel. Actually still sore about the Front Base. I couldn’t use it with my Maximus X Code.

Perhaps 2 fans in the front with one in the topmost position and one in the bottommost position would make a difference (assuming you had them in the top 2 positions and the bottom one clear). I'm going to be buying this case shortly and plan to use a 280mm AIO up top and 120mm in the back, hoping it will fit. I won't be worried with supplying airflow to any air coolers but I want to ensure the radiator fans get enough fresh air to keep the rads cool without getting too loud. In my case it seems that your results would be favourable because it should (hopefully) work pretty well for me, with the rad fans "drawing in" the air from the front fans towards them. Nice video. I had the 4000x glass front panel but I ended up switching it out with the 4000d airflow front panel. It looks pretty damn good and I get better airflow.

@@davidespanol1824 I got it from Corsair last year. Sign up for the email notification. That's the only reason I got one. I was up late at night tinkering on my computer and got a in stock alert. The front panels go in a matter of hours or less.

If you just install a flat panel to block air flowing past beneath the gpu, it will cause positive pressure to ensure it passes upward and then out the back.

I really appreciated this video and all the effort you put into it especially because I am willing to buy the airflow model. After seeing the temperature differences on the gpu I can only share your theory that the 2 front fans direct the air above the video card, and I was wondering if adding an external element like a small piece of sheet metal between the first and the second fan 6cm +/- in length in order to direct the flow under the gpu could be a simple homemade solution.

I think metal might be too risky. If I had had more time I would have tested with another fan in the roof if Im honest to see if the airflow could have been balanced out.

I'm looking at getting the 4000D Airflow, but I'm looking to put 3 fans in the front for intake, 2 on the top for Exhaust, and one at the back for Exhaust. Hoping the Temps would be a lot better that way, as my current cheapo case has dang near the same design with the mesh front, but has 2 CDROM drive slots on the top, which are unused. I'm currently running the fan setup I said above but with only 2 fans in the front and my CPU Maxes out at 77° C under heavy gaming loads, and that's the hottest momentary spikes. So I'm hoping with the 4000D Airflow and at least 6 Fans that it should cool even better than my current $50 case. Do you think that would work out pretty well? I'd never buy a case and expect to use just the fans supplied(especially when it's 2/3 fans) My cheapo case came with 5 fans pre-installed and it ran great until one of the fans bearings started making noise, but I replaced all 5 fans with better ones.

I have the X. Can confirm that if you remove the front panel it makes the gou run like 3-6c cooler. The mesh is enough protection for me.

Did you ask Corsair if they'll be doing these in black? or combo color theme black outside with white interior? Edit: Just saw the bit-tech review and they confirmed that each of the skus will come in a black variant as well, making 6 skus altogether and the glass on the black variants is tinted.

Very good review!! I chose the 4000x case for my PC system . for 123 Euros. I am expecting it now to arrive, althought I wanted the 4000D airflow and couldn't find it in greece and especially the store I bought the PC System, at this time, to buid it for me. But, I got it with the RYZEN 3400 G with incorporated GPU Radeon Vega 11 . I don't intend to buy an additional graphics card for the time being. If I am covered with the CPU's GPU , with 16gb RAM. So if this case has problem with the additional graphics card is the problem , I shouldn't have this problem. right? The CPU comes with its own Wreath Spire Cooling system. If I need better cooling for the CPU later , I will add that. I wonder, if I want later the 4000D's airflow front cover, how much will it cost? You showed that you can buy them seperately and can change the front covers. Did Corsair tell you something about this issue? I don't play high end games at all, more picture and video editing and programming., and 3D design, I am interested in. I like their cases, because they are very well organized and have good quality for cleaning and having it neat and beautiful, without being afraid of breaking plastic brackets trying to open the front case and clean the filters.

Curious about the top mounted AIO clearance on this, my motherboard (MSI MPG Gaming Edge Wifi) has large heatsinks on the VRMs that prevent (in smaller cases, 220T etc) a top mounted AIO.

I do wonder how it would perform with some 140mm fans at the front given a larger size would provide a bit more air to the GPU. Or maybe if had 3 x 120 at the front the gpu can draw some air from the top of that fan to the top.

Damn!.... they should've made one with just that dust screen behind the front panel and then removed the holes for said panel... because that's the nicest dust screen I've seen, and I think it would look awesome like that, just gotta get rid of the holes/clips for that front...it has a certain like, tough plastic Tonka Truck looking aesthetic, kinda like the look of Asus' X570 Tuf boards...

test again with the gpu in vertical also, try with a divider from the fan area to the gpu at about the height of the gpu so you dedicate the lower fans to the area under the gpu. maybe corsair can make that modification too down the line

Did you consider that 1 front fan and 1 rear is negative pressure because the front fan has a filter+grill and pulls in air from the rear PCIE Covers. 2 front creates positive pressure. Also the front glass undoubtably causes breathing issues also.

That's a good question you're technically letting more air in with the panel off completely even compared to the 4000d panel on

I have a question please help if you can: The 4000D and 4000D Airflow has 1 easily noticeable difference, the front panel. The 4000D Airflow has a honeycomb/triangle looking front panel while the regular 4000D has a panel with no type of holes. I noticed Corsair sells 4000D Airflow front panels. If I bought the 4000D and replaced the front panel with a 4000D Airflow panel, will the 4000D technically be a 4000D Airflow? Or is there some other differences in the 4000D and the 4000D Airflow?
