I use the original virtuoso se for work (IT helpdesk, WFH) and I 2nd the comfort (after being on my big head after a while I take them off as the pressure of the band causes discomfort/headache, though not as bad as the hs70s I had before them). This may be more of a general headphone thing, but I've also begun to use ear drops a bit more (more so just recently using the virtuoso in a full time WFH compacity) as my ears will produce way too much wax, so if something like the hs80 can kill 2 birds with one stone (more comfort and less ear wax issues), I'd be sold on it.

Now that it's been a few months which pair do you reccommend long term? I've had a few Virtuoso SE's over the last couple of years but the thin AF earcups and low battery are really starting to do my head in (and rub my ears raw)

When you connect the Virtuoso XT by 3.5mm, does it save whatever EQ settings you have for it in iCue? Or does the audio change noticeably? I use an elgato Wave 3 mic and I like to have the instant monitoring by connecting directly to the microphone with 3.5mm. But my problem is that all the 3.5mm headphones I've tried plugging in end up not having the type of sound I like and I'm not savvy enough to know how to use any kind of equalizer. I'd love to be able to use icue and also connect my headset by 3.5mm. Does that work with virtuoso xt? I've looked at some aftermarket earcups that I hope might fix the comfort issues with virtuoso.

Negative, unfortunately. It only applies the EQ settings when wireless or through the USB. I have a nice Amp/Dac, and was a little irritated I couldn't use my Virtuoso with it and still use the EQ setting. I DID replace my earcups, however, so I can help with that. You can use any 100mm earcups you want. I chose these, as the normal Beyerdynamic ones were out of stock. @@Blacksadify beyerdynamic earcups that i have are too open did not like how they sounded on these, then again i hate how the same cups sound on any headphones i own even on beyerdynamics, they do work better whit some leather.

Well maybe its time to learn how to use EQ it takes good 20min. If for some reason you dont want to use any eq software even not Realtek one that reconises and sets your phones to high impedance mode, you can use what you have in windows, go to Speaker properties -> open Enhancements -> tick the equalizer box and try what presets they give you, while you are there set you headphones to 24-bit / 96khz from properties option or as high what your gear is able to produce :)

Tbh, I think the Virtuoso XT should have been a bit farther away from his mouth just to be a bit fairer- cuz the HS80 was definitely farther away from his mouth which meant it didn't capture any of the breath winds and whatnot

@@TheProvokedPrawn They feel fine, price was quite deep but these do many things, we have Valco VMK20 as bluethoot headphones but they are too good so wife hogs them all the time and my previous gaming headset was broken. These do many jobs now as headphones for phone, radio, pairing to tv for movies and gaming whit pc, connections seems to work fine whit most devises.

@@pixytorres7117 They were a massive letdown. The top frame rested directly on my head due to lack of adjustment which was quite painful after 5 minutes. And the earcups couldnt cover my ears completely either due to lack of adjustability. I now have the hyperX cloud flight S which are absolutely perfect and a 100% worthy upgrade from my Logitech g933. These are perfect for big heads

Can you use the earcups of the HS80 with the Virtuoso? My headset is an oldie Corsair one, it's so old I don't even remember the exact model type, think it's H2000 or something. It's so old that there are flaky bits falling off all the time which drives my girlfriend nuts. Still, I've always enjoyed it even though the earcups hurt my ears after a few hours. So if you can use HS80 earcups with the Virtuoso then it's the Virtuoso that I'm going to get and if that's not possible then I need to think on it a bit more as comfort is of great importance.,

review: hs80 is made of premium material... it's not comfortable at all I couldn't spend more than 30 minutes without taking them off and adjusting them because they tired me in the ears... the microphone is good if it detects your voice... you have to speak loudly to that the microphone sits on you and activates, the microphone cannot be bent as much to adjust it to your mouth... it is uncomfortable... it has good audio quality... BUT it has a problem that the audio cuts out... they sound very hard... use them at volume 10 out of 100 because they have power. They are heavy but it is supported… I liked them but these details made me return them. I have already tried Astro A50 gen4... in audio they sound very good... clear and clean... they have power. the mic sucks... the headset is plastic but good quality... easy to use (software) just like the corsair hs80 software. they are light and comfortable. but if I pay $300 I hope that the whole headset is nice but no… it also has its drawbacks. I think that for the price it is not worth it. others that I just tried only the Razer kraken v3 pro... the very nice design and premium material... the very bad audio... the haptic mode gives a headache and distorts too much... I didn't like it... the microphone was fine... better than the last 2. I didn't like the software... it's very confusing even though I managed EQ the best I could with help and in the end I didn't get a good sound... the sound is very metallic... I didn't like it but they are VERY comfortable more than the astro a59 and the hd80 .. but in the end I don't recommend them either .. I thought I'd be surprised because it's a new model for this year 2022 and thinking that it would have better technology. in audio quality between the 3… 1) astro a50. 2) hs80. 3) razer kraken v3 pro. micro quality 1) razer kraken v3 but 2) hs80. 3) astro a50 gen4. comfort: 1) razer kraken v3 pro 2) astro a 50 3) hs80. by design it is to your tastes... all 3 are made of premium material.

I still can't decide between these two. I am really scared about the ear pads on the Virtuoso XT, because I bought the SE model and I couldn't wear them for more than 10min. At the same time I want the most premium thing out there and the Virtuoso XT is definitely it. If someone has tried the XT and the SE could you tell me if the ear pads are the same or is the XT more confortable. PS: I know about the aftermarket ear pads, but I would prefer to use the stock ones.

Flame of fury I am in the exact same boat as you. I’m torn wether to get the HS80 or the XT’s. It’s a birthday present so very fortunate for me price isn’t an issue so I’m leaning more towards the most premium headset I can get (lol). The mic quality on the HS80 sounds absolutely incredible yet unfortunately it seems to lacking a little bit on the XT mic. But the XT has all the features like Bluetooth, 3.5 cable etc that just make me think I’d be silly not to go for the XT. Man this is a proper difficult decision haha

I’m pretty much 95 percent sold on the XT’s and this comes down to the ability to be able to game whilst also listening to my own playlists on my phone. I’ve never been able to do that before and that seems incredibly cool. I’m pretty sure also the mic is still going to sound fantastic. What I have noticed while doing a bit of research when KZbinrs use the XT the mic seems to be positioned a lot closer to the mouth. I wonder if the mic was positioned a bit further away it would sound a lot more like the HS80. It’s a shame that the HS80 doesn’t include a bit more features. Also have you purchased any additional thicker ear pads? Have you noticed any discomfort if you have remained with the stock ear pads on the XT?

My headphone band on HS80 split down the center in only 1 year of full time usage. Never dropped, well taken care of. These things are not meant to last. The ear cushions fell apart in 4 months and were replaced under warranty by Corsair. Unfortunate because the sound quality is decent enough and they get pretty loud. Battery lasts all day, mic quality has been solid.

@@SharrodVisuals I went down an insane rabbit hole for like 2 months of headphone shopping. I tried EPOS H3 Hybrid Pro Wireless and Arctis Nova Pro Wireless. Both had great sound quality, but the H3 was buggy AF and not usable. The Arctis didn't fit me which was a shame, I really liked them for music and gaming. I ended up going back to my DT770 Pro 80ohm but wasn't fully satisfied as I wanted an upgrade. I tried K371, DT 990 250, 560S, and finally Edition XS. I bought a current gen Schiit stack to go with it. These XS are the best sound quality I've ever heard and I decided to keep them along with my DT 770 and 990 for backup. All the rest went back.

@@drewmorg. 😂😂 I was the same… I went from gaming headsets to running Topping D30 and A30 amps to a HD 6xx and DT 990s and DT 900 Pro x to eventually realising that i prefer form, comfort and convience of the wireless over that extra 10 % - 20% sound quality. And even then its subjective being on preference. So now Ive sold my whole setup and going back to a wireless setup. I bought the HS80 tried them out lastnight, sound is very decent, ear pads were surprisingly scratchy and felt cheap. I’m thinking if returning and going the Astro A30 as I have the A50s and always enjoyed there comfort/sound. I wish they could put high quality sound in a wireless pair that doesn’t break the bank… and has all the gamer preferences such as flip to mute, Bluetooth, great mic etc.

@@SharrodVisuals I love flip to mute, I thought I couldn't live without it, but I've re-adapted to the wired podcaster mic life. I totally feel you. Don't sleep on the Blackshark V2's, my friend has those and says they are VERY good and comparable in overall quality to DT 770 pro which he tried and returned with Topping DX3 Pro+ (which fried on him in one week btw). Agree the best audio gear is only like 10% difference over wireless but the convenience is a huge step back. I feel we are 1 generation away from getting what we really want in Wireless setups and then all this audiophile crap is going "bye bye". Believe me I was curious about the HD 6xx and HD 600 series as well, had to fight myself from buying and trying on many occasions. These Edition XS are the "definite upgrade" I was looking for in terms of sound quality but I miss the convenience of smaller headsets like DT 990 and wireless of course. I still wear the 990's from time to time, because they are more comfortable. Logitech is due to drop a G Pro Wireless headset soon as their main is like 5 years old now. I'm hoping it checks all the boxes.

@@drewmorg. mmm true. I’d highly recommend the 6xx as they are in my opinion the best pair sub $500 for vocal songs. Clean, crispy and warm. And if you like the dt990s I’d recommend the 900 pro x. Cleaner overall sound with less harsh treble. But yeah I’ll check out the black shark v2 and hopefully Logitech do release a good pair soon. I do like the current model but I know the mic is trash and it’s aging. Enjoy the audiophile setup man, I do occasionally get the itch for highly quality, but my wallet and bank acc say no. 😂

The only difference is that xt version has both bluetooth and slipstream, while the non-xt has only slipstream wireless. Maybe xt has other materials, idk

virtuoso xt is virtuoso rgb SE + bluetooth, the 'base' virtuoso rgb (no bluetooth as well) will also have smaller mic and glossy plastic on the earcup covers instead of aluminium. BTW I've seen the XT named as 'Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless Gaming Headset' in europe

XT mic is better than either the RGB or SE mics. I have all three. Interestingly, if you swap the XT mic onto the RGB or SE, they sound just as good as the XT. So, even though the XT mic looks the same as an SE mic, Corsair has probably done some tuning to it. They've also added padding to the headband and reduced the clamping force of the earpads on the XT. I can wear them for hours, while the RGB or SE pinch the top of my head after a couple of hours. Note that you can replace the stock earpads with aftermarket ones that are thicker and fabric, leather-like, or velour. These thicker earpads also have the side benefit of providing a better seal for increased bass.

I found a Virtuoso SE for $120 and a HS80 for $180 in my country. I've seen reviews of both and the more shallow ear cups on the SE don't really seem appealing, but the HS80 mic sound SOO clear for a wireless headset. What do you think would be a better buy long-term?

It kind of deppends on your ears and head, I have the Virtuoso SE and it's perfectly comfortable for me, note that you can change the ear cups, for 10/15$ you can buy deeper ones and with an array of different materials, including cloth and microfiber, you don't get dolby atmos but you can purchase it for about 15$, if you're adamant on having it, but that's not really a necessity, icue is also very good and allows you for great EQ adjustments not to mention the several built in profiles, the SE built quality is awesome, I'd say much better than the HS80, aluminum all around and the extra 3.5 mm jack. For the price I would definitely go for the SE, no debate.

there's just one catch with the HS80 and virtuose both are not comfortable especially the HS80, I had both of them, I switched to razer blackshark v2 pro, feelsgoodman. Sound overall is better with razer headset, mic goes to corsair obviously, but god the comfort is UNMATCHED.

@@Kaiser187 My HS80 fell apart within 1 year of full time usage. The band split down the center and ear pads fell apart in 3-4 months. Corsair replaced the pads under warranty. I will be taking the headset back to Best Buy as I paid for the warranty and am sick of these stupid elastic headbands. I want the solid pad as I've NEVER had an issue with it.
