Knowledgeable and sweet....thanks am starting to corset train and found your channel very helpful. Am a 40" hips and 32 waist and crunch my obliques for 8 min every morning since 4 days ago. My aim is 28" so hopefully combining that with corseting should help me get to my goal soon.

Thank you very much for your response. I fully appreciate this; I do not seek a dramatic reduction, only a slight curvature. I am in very good health, but if you think I should not attempt to gain even a slight reduction, I shall not. :)

I have a tendency to put more weight on one foot than the other and resultingly end up jutting that hip out slightly throughout the day. This usually causes me hip and lower back pain intermittently throughout the day. Putting on a corset caused me to take more notice when I start to shift my weight and correct my posture and weight distribution. I can all ready feel some relief from the stress on that joint being reduced.

My corset effect my spine, but it makes it straight, I'd assume that's good, though, right?

I'm having a bespoke long line edwardian corset made for sleep as was recommended by my orthopedic and physical theraoist.. BUT. The natural curve in my spine will be supported. Not changed.. its almost like a flapper girdle except steel boned.

wonderful videos,wonderfully explained, or everyone to understand^_^.congrats!!! I read a lot about corseting,my childhood dream was to own some corsets and wear them,but being a soprano,it's not a good thing to lace tightly.I have 4 corsets now,and I wear them moderately tight,only 1-2 inches reduction.but I actually sing better wearing them,I have more control over the diaphragm,and I can push the air better:).with or without reduction,corsets are definitely the best self-esteem boosters^_^.

This all makes sense.. about the bending.. but rather then moving INWARDS my furthest floating rib is pointing straight down (I've got my scans and x rays) and often hits my pelvic bones when I'm not corseted.. how odd!

Thanks, that makes sense. :) Do you know if there are training corsets in this shape, please? If not, are there types that are better than others? Thanks!

Hi Lucy, I LOVE your channel. And I have a question. I have very protruding ribs and also very high hip bones, and if that isn't enough.. A very short waist. I am only 10" from UB to lap so it makes it look so that I have a large waist. I really want to train my ribs down and have heard that "conical" corsets are good for that. Since I do have such a short torso, I thought I'd go with the Petite Josephine from Isabella Corsetry. BUT, now I'm a little apprehensive about it because i do believe it's supposed to have that "Edwardian" style and I definitely don't want to do any damage to my spine and end up causing myself unnecessary orthopedic problems. I would love your input! :-) My measurements: UB: 31.5" Waist: 28" Hip: 34" UB to Hight Hip: 10"
@LucysCorsetry10 жыл бұрын
Hi Tabitha, the Josephine (including the petite version) is Edwardian inspired but it's not a true S-curve corset - while it does change your posture a little bit, it's not as detrimental as the reproduction S-curve corsets available. If you like the look of a longline corset but have a shorter torso, and you don't want the posture-changing effect of the Josephine, I actually have a gallery that you might be interested in here. The Vamp from WKD and the Restyle corsets give a different posture, but still gives a dramatic silhouette. lucycorsetry.com/research-corset-brands/guided-galleries/longline-corsets-for-shorter-waists/

Weird question but if someone tight laced as tiny as possible and stayed tight laced for a really long time then removed the corset would their top half just fall over and break their spine?

Hi! You mentioned in this video that you think wearing corsets while still young is a bad idea. I'm 15 so I was just like "Aaaargh, 5 years!!" I'm not really interested in proper waist training at all, but I do like the support and restriction of a corset on the body (I'm practically Victorian girl living in the 21st century so this is kind of a side effect of that). I totally understand why full on waist training is not advisable for teens, but even if I wanted to wear a corset which is not that tightly laced, did my research and didn't wear it every day would you still recommend that I wait? I will wait if I must, I'm not being impatient, but I was wondering whether it was different if I was not planning on making a significant difference to my figure but rather wanting to get a feeling from what I wear that is, in a weird way, more comfortable to me.
@UberOtakusPro12 жыл бұрын
(Fang) I have mild scoliosis, but it's kind of a weird type. Instead of my spine going forward or back it's acutally shaped like a stretched out S, meaning it goes side to side. Since it curves to the side like that, it hurts if I stand or sit for too long and it makes my hips look uneven. Do you think wearing a corset with a 1 inch waist reduction and a little extra back or side boning would help? Just wondering since it feels a little better with the costume ones that I've made... ^w^"

I have Osteogenesis Imperfecta; my bones are fragile. I wonder if a corset would be good for me since I'm starting to get a bent spine. Of course I would need a custom one since my back is very short.

Hi! I'm 50 yrs, 5'3", 133lbs, 36, 29, 38. After an accident I got to 147lbs, and my goal is back to 128lbs, 35, 26. I'm also weight training, so soon I'll use a tape, not the scale. Here's where the corset comes in: My waist is small, but extremely short: My bottom ribs seem to 'jut out' awkwardly above it. A smaller circumference would be a bonus, but my real goal is a longer, more graceful waist to offset my curves better. Can you suggest a size or method, pls? Thx!

You say young people should not wear corsets, but I am young, think corsets are beautiful (I don't actually want to change my waist, I just like the fashion), and was wondering if a young person like me could wear one occasionally (once or twice a week, not all day, maybe a few hours) without harming myself. I don't want to reveal my age but I'm in my teens.

Will corseting be able to train or bend the bones on an older person? I am reaching 50 and have backache. The corset actually helped in keep the pain down. I am also hoping to get my waist reduced by 4 inches (now at 32) to 28 over time. Am I too old for that to happen?

I am 25 years old and am just now getting interested in corseting. I already have a fairly small waist I am content with, but it's my ribcage that bothers me. I have a long ribcage and short waist, and my floating ribs jut outward. On top of wanting to adjust that any way I can, I also have slight scoliosis and have been told that proper corseting can help with my gait. Any suggestions?

what does your mid section look like now that you've trained it without a corsets? Does it keep it's shape when you take your corset off?
@sunnyprisci88386 жыл бұрын
Hi Lucy! I found this video extremely helpful. There's one thing I would like to know: If one was to stop corset training (using a conical corset), would the floating ribs go back to their previous position even if they were made to go inward over a long period of time? Or would they retain their new shape if the pressure had been constant for a while (let's say several years)?
@LucysCorsetry6 жыл бұрын
Q Bee You may be able to keep your results for quite a while - but if you were to do any swimming, professional singing or playing a brass instrument - activities that require you to work on your lung capacity and ribcage expansion - you may find that your ribs increase in size. Also, getting pregnant can push out the ribs quite a lot. I explain in a bit more detail here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fHOWap6KYr-pjJY

I'm 18; I only want to lose a little of my waste (nothing major). Do you recommend I not do this? not even for a short period?

I know this video is old but I don't really know where else to ask this. I have flared ribs and I know that doing certain breathing exercises will help with this, but I don't want to wear a corset if it can disfigure my ribs further. I have an overbust corset that reduces my waist by 2 inches, (I'm wearing it for fashion purposes, not to train down) could this make my ribs flare more or could it help curve my ribs inward?
@LucysCorsetry7 жыл бұрын
Laspuruss some types of corsets can push in a flared ribcage, but it depends on the silhouette of the corset. For instance, in my shop I have conical rib corsets that place pressure on the lower ribs, but I also offer cupped rib corsets that only compress the waistline and simply contour around a flared ribcage, not placing pressure on the bones.

Lucy's Corsetry hey I have a similar question. I have a rib flare on my left side and I actually own a steel boning corset. Will this type of corset help bring in that rib along with the breathing exercises?
@LucysCorsetry7 жыл бұрын
It's not really so much the bones in the corset (99.999% of corsets should contain steel boning, unless you're working with a specialist in Victorian reproduction) but rather it's the silhouette. See my video on the Gemini corset here, you'll see the difference in silhouette. A conical (straight) rib corset will bring in your ribs, while a round (cupped) rib corset will not. But both contain steel boning. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZSmaZ9-Ysdlaa8

@Alexin1derland12 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if you have seen a physiotherapist, but as a nurse who also weight trains, I can tell you that most lower back pain is caused by overly strong hip flexor muscles working against weak abdominals. The way we live in modern times creates this imbalance. Most people are greatly helped by stretching their backs and building stronger abdominals. I repeat: I do not know your history, but it might be something to look into. Besides, strong abs are SO sexy! (laughs)

When you take off the corset , doesn't everything bounce back in a way?
@LucysCorsetry9 жыл бұрын
To a point, yep. Your waist will always be 4-8 inches larger than your corset, depending on the person. But the more consistent a person is in wearing the corset over time, the more the corset can (semi)permanently affect the posture and the shape of the ribcage. Many compare it with having orthodontic braces. If you only have braces on for a couple of hours, your teeth resist moving. If you try to move your teeth way too fast, you risk them pulling out. If you move them consistently and slowly over time, they will respond.
@vanillasmoothies41699 жыл бұрын
So if I wear it just every once in a while , get down to about 22 inches ( from 27) ) and don't wear it for awhile , things will bonce back? But I will still be able to put on my corset and wear it at 22''?
@LucysCorsetry9 жыл бұрын
Lem Nuggets Yes, many people are able to occasionally tightlace (wear their corset tightly once in awhile, without a permanent change to their natural silhouette). You may feel that you need to train down to the point where you can close a size 22" corset comfortably. But once you reach your goal - if, say, you were to only wear your corset once a week, I doubt that would be enough time to cause a change in your natural figure. How much someone can tightlace though depends on their own tolerance / comfort level.
@vanillasmoothies41699 жыл бұрын
Will the ribs be able to bounce back or will they remain molded in? ( I hope im not bothering you I just wanna get some info because im buying my first corset in a week )
@LucysCorsetry9 жыл бұрын
Lem Nuggets The ribcage takes the longest to mold (compared to softer tissue) and the longest to revert to normal. But activities like swimming / singing increase lung capacity and push out the ribcage, and pregnancy obviously pushes out the ribs too so the effect of the corset on the ribcage can't be said to be permanent either.
